So, I have felt suicidal, anxious and depressed for the last 20 years. I was treated with different SSRIs and SNRIs. They took the edge off, but at max dosage wasnt working.
Symptoms were, extreme anxiety about performance, inability to talk to people and generally painful to hold a conversation, and basically laying in bed and giving up when faced with any task. Lately, I have been getting so enraged with myself, losing focus and just upset that I could not seem to stay on one task or get anything done. Depression seeped back in even on highest dose of meds and I was ready to give up. My doctor decided to try Vyvanse after I told him I was binge drinking coffee. 20mg yesterday and I could cry happy tears. It helped with things I didn't expect. I actually held a conversation with 3 people in my class yesterday and have never even spoke more than 2 words with them before. I even slept better. Woke up happy. I may be jumping the gun... but I think I may have found the issue. my son has ASD and severe ADHD so it would make sense that I could also have ADHD.. Did vyvanse work immediately for others? Is tolerance a major issue? I was very nervous to start a stimulant.. but it helped things I thought i would be stuck with forever. |

vyvanse has a big crash, but it really works for sadness and apathy for most of the day. It is a balancing act ,at least for me. How is it going now?

Works immediately (Within an hour or two) and doesn't build tolerance in therapeutic doses.

I have been taking adderall xr for like 10 years and it is a lifesaver. I only needed a dose increase twice and part of that had to do with aborbtion issues due to my gastric bypass and that I am a rapid metabolizer. There have been numerous studies about amphetamines and treatment resistant depression so its no surprise there. I do not personally like vyvanse but many do.

I was on Vyvanse to help with my binge eating disorder. It wasn't helping that much. Then I started to become very angry and found my anger/irritability very hard to control. Least I can say I tried it. I hope it works out for you.

Welcome to the the fascinating world of amphetamine. Where it will take you? Who really knows, unless you do and you take it responsibly. Think twice would be my only advice

@Paracelsus
I just checked out your profile and I am confused. Are you against stimulants? You mentioned something regarding development when taking them ? Can you expound on that ? __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |

Thought I would come back to update. A month later and still as wonderful helping now as it was the first day. I can honestly not say enough great things and it helps me in so many ways. Ahh. Friends and family have commented on my ability to speak up more at social get togethers, my kids have commented on my happier mood. So happy finally.. no more anxiety or constant dissatisfaction!!!!

Glad it worked for you. Vyvanse has been a helpful medication to me as well.
