Sometimes, I can't do what I want. I think, "I want to do X" but it's as if that part of my brain can't pass the message to the rest of me to act. For example, I think "I need to note this down", or "I want to watch a movie" - but the rest of me keeps doing whatever I was doing. It happens once every 1-2 months, I think - haven't been keeping notes - but it creeps me out. In an occasion or two, I was about to start drawing, and I was exited, but the rest of me couldn't. I'm happy with my life, so it can't be depression. The only problem I have is diagnosed ADD. Any clues on what the hell might be happening to me?

Hi Quantica. Sorry to hear you are having trouble connecting your thoughts to actions. Sometimes that means thoughts go by quicker than they can get to the part of the brain that initiates action. One work around for that is to write down what you want to do in a list and then number them in the order you want to complete them.

It is not possible to give a diagnosis as a peer but if you want to try some quizzes that may point in certain directions, you can check here Psychological Quizzes and Tests

Thank you for your answer, CANDC. I'm not looking for a diagnosis, don't worry! Only for possible leads to look into, as a start.

Good suggestion... Unfortunately, lists don't work for me! Plus, I've only had problems with unplanned things, so far.

I've tried out the basic tests... I got confirmation for my current anxiety issues, but seem to be quite sane otherwise, ADD aside

I know sometimes I know I want to or should do something and I’m telling myself to do it but I can’t seem to bring myself to do it. Usually it happens most when I’m enjoying what I’m already doing or if it’s something I find really uncomfortable or if I’m worn out. I’ve always thought it was a lack of motivation in some way almost like I’m missing that ability to give myself that final push to make myself do something I’m not sure. Never quite been able to figure it out myself.

Though I’m my head it seems to fit with the other adhd symptoms considering dopamine is associated with motivation and people with adhd seem to be treated with medications that increase dopamine.

No, I don't.
My family is rather poor and I'm unemployed, so I don't want to burden them further by buying medicine. I've never tried any. Even my adult diagnosis was free, from public doctors (had been diagnosed as a kid, too). I'm thinking of giving it a shot in a month, with my internship money.
I'm functioning sufficiently, most of the time. The only remaining problems, except from the one I mention above, are zero perception of time (which I've found many ways around), my memory problems, and my inability to focus/perceive every friggin' thing in the room sufficiently.
