I've been diagnosed years ago and prescribed Ritalin. It works but I recently started a private meditation practice (with a very knowledgeable teacher. Within 3 weeks I started to forget my medication. Now I'm on and off of it and don't see a difference. This is great. I do the traditional meditation (Sohom) nothing fancy or magic. In my case I needed a teacher as I would have never done it by myself. I meditate 2x a day now for 15 min and it does the trick.
