Hello all! My son and I were diagnosed with high functioning ASD. My son has had issues since being a newborn, and got his diagnosis earlier this year at 4 years old. I have had issues my entire life also. Our diagnosis makes sense for all of our behaviour except one thing I'm not sure about.
I am in tune with other people's emotions, I feel them and I feel it deeply. I also am very sensitive to other people's moods and dislike any confrontation or clear communication being set. I feel that my son is also going to be like this. He doesnt like upsetting somebody and if he feels that he has upset somebody, this triggers a meltdown. I always prefer to be alone and feel uncomfortable in people's presence... but I can handle quick small talk just fine. Repetitive actions, stimming, lack of eye contact, sensory issues, and an intense need for order is all present however. Is there anybody else here that finds they are also in tune with others emotions and needs? Everything I have read states there needs to be this symptom.. but we dont. Thank you in advance. |
