Hello, I thought I should introduce myself. I am in my early 50s and I was diagnosed with AVPD and anxiety in my 20s. It doesn't destroy my life like it used to, but AVPD is still there in my mind.

Hello NotDefeated: I see this is your first post here on PC. Welcome to Psych Central.

Here are links to 2 articles, from Psych Central's archives, on the subject of AvPD:

Avoidant Personality Disorder

Avoidant Personality Disorder Treatment

I hope you find PC to be of benefit.

Welcome to pc. These are good articles imho. Anyone who has no clue about what Avpd is or is not may benefit from reading these. Also it is very possible to have any other dx in addition to this. Why not.

Welcome to pc, to any new members or ''lurkers'' who have been diagnosed with this.
(lurkers, as in reading but not posting)

I have not been diagnosed with this disorder, but it seems like it might be something that causes issues for me. I'll look into it more, it's very interesting.

Welcome to pc Lonewolfman! I am not sure if this diagnosis is accurate for me (although the clinician (a senior psychologist in a primitive forest....) said it was, I did not trust them and with good reason) You're welcome to post here. Most people here are friendly and open to cordial dialogue and emotional growth in a positive direction

Are you currently in therapy? (only answer if ok, I think this can be a bit of a sore point in some less..... forests)
