A victory is a victory, no matter how small. Congrats BlueInanna!
I practically have to seduce myself into the shower! It's just such an ordeal!!! Lol I have always been this way unfortunately lol I envy those easy shower people lol

Secretum, i don't think anyone hates showers (who could really enjoy feeling dirty and disgusting)

it's just it's hard for some of us to get motivated to do it- not only because of the depression and stuff, but also a lot of people when they don't have to go anywhere or see anyone think.. oh, sod it.

lol

it''s really not easy for us

ITA! I love this thread title because the motivation to do so on some days is just not there.

I have tp scrub my body daily or I start getting mild back acne and one day without shower will cost me 1 week of scrubbing to get rid of that acne. I don't know... I've been depressed to a point of suicide and I STILL showered and went to work and did everything, but I felt like *****.

I think that behavioral approach is the best for bipolar people because you can't make yourself feel better cognitively when you are down (I know I can't - I only realize its a cycle that will go away).

Besides, how can you go on stinking like that?

Yay! I'm not the only one who has issues with getting into the shower. Usually once I'm there I remember that I like showering and it makes me feel better (makes my allergies way better too). It just feels like I have to jump through all sorts of mental hoops to get into the shower. I remind myself that I like showering and that it makes me feel good.. and still can't make it happen sometimes. :-(

I totally understand. Been there and good job getting it done. Sometimes it takes so much energy to do simple things.

Mental hoops, yep. I still struggle with this, able to shower every 2-3 days. It's still such an annoying chore. But in the summer, I'll gladly jump in the pool daily.

Congratulations,

I too have trouble mustering up the energy to shower. I initially feel bad right after because it is exhausting, but then I feel good because I am clean.

I have become a hermit, if I went out more it would give me more reason to shower more. It is a bit of a viscous circle.

I find it interesting how this disorder has hit us all in such similar ways, like showering ? I thought it was only an issue I had.

yes speed, it's interesting and it brings us together more, or i think so anyway

i mean you don't go round a find a totally random forum and post on it.. oh, i have trouble showering but i took one today- the others would be like what?

but here we're all the same.. so it's not embarrasing at all!

and yes, i think we're the same in the fact we hardly leave the house- so don't really have reason to shower

My motivation has gone from taking a shower every three days to taking a shower every two weeks. Yes I said it. One every two weeks. I am ashamed of myself. I am stable onmeds but the motivation is gone. I dont even want to tell my doc.
