Okay, I feel like blog such as this one are often used for questions and complaints. I know this board is liable as "Bipolar Success Stories" I though I would offer you my simplistic success story.

I just returned from a vacations on the lower east coast of the US, and being from MN this was great just to get out of the cold. Now I have bipolar 2 mixed episodes with rapid cycling and if that is not enough the amount of sunlight plays a major roll in my mood. The more sun like summertime equals manic moods and the low sunlight in the winter in MN equal depressed moods. So you have the very brief background I can tell you all that I was able to go from MN to the south with out flipping out. Great, right? Yes, yes it is.
I would like to say that it was easy to to this but I ended up having to take my medications like normal plus a extra dose here and there along with adjusting my sleep habits. Sounds like work, well it was. I should never be this difficult but that is the simple life i now life.
My point here is this, If you are on this board ten your are more than likely like me. I constantly question what is possible and how I can get to the next step. I try very hard not to let bipolar ruin my life as it tries very hard day in and day out. It can be done you can enjoy your life it just take a boat load of extra work others will never understand and frankly, I am glad that they don't have to deal with it because you and I know the hell it can be.
In short, no matter what that bum hole bipolar tells you, you are able to do more than you think. It is only when you start to believe those nasty thought that your world starts to spin out of control.
This being said, I do fully understand sometime it is out of our hands, however, I do believe trying our hardest helps big time.

Im glad u got to have a good vacation. Its my dream to get better so I can travel again. I feel so sad that I dont travel, but it makes you get so unbalanced even for people that dont have our problems. One of my recovery goals is to get to point where I can learn to travel with no problems, it will be a challenge but the thought of living life without travel is to much!

This is great to hear, as I live in Alaska (long dark winters, long bright summers). Im not yet officially diagnosed (have my pdoc appointment in two days) and struggling. My family is planning a trip to Florida in June, and I hope I can become stable by then. So your story gives me a bit of hope that I can do the same, but I still don't have any expectations. Thanks!

Go on a hiking trip or skiing. Or an active vacation like I’m planning, to Thailand.

Those are some good choices, Disneyland would sound like a great first trip.

My family is doing a family reunion in Disney in 2020. i have a year and a half to save up for it. That is my next vacation. I'm going to get my own room so I don't have to wake up on other people's schedules.
