If Lamictal doesn't work out for me I'm thinking about asking my doctor about switching over from Geodon to something else. I can only tolerate low doses of Geodon b/c higher doses cause akisthisia. Has anyone had success with Vraylar? I read that it was recently approved for bipolar depression and depression is my main issue. Also, I called and found out that it is mostly covered by my insurance so it's definitely an option for me.

It worked well for me, I took it for psychotic symptoms. I had to switch to abilify because my insurance wouldn't cover vraylar and it's not available as a generic yet

If someone goes to the site of the pharma company that makes Vraylar you might be able to obtain it totally free, or at a very low cost. I did that with Seroquel some years ago. Astra Zeneca filled every Seroquel prescription for me 100% free until I eventually had insurance to cover it myself.

Here's one program: Sign Up | VRAYLAR(R) (cariprazine) Savings Program

hi. my psych explained it to me like this...rexulti is a lot like abilify, but its better for negative symptoms and depression. vraylar is for the agitated and/or manic among us.. im avoiding it. its very new, limited data, and it seems to cause akathisia, muscle stiffness, etc. even more often than the other 'atypicals,' for some reason. it has a unique action at D3 receptors, but...no one seems quite sure what that means at all, no clue what it'll do over the long haul.

abilify is generic and has a lot more data available. maybe that, instead?
