So I opened a new bottle of Lamictal 200mg tonight (I take 300 total every night). The 200's are always large, light blue, and shaped funny, a hexagon or something. Tonight I looked at the pills in the bottle and they're kind-of large, round, and white. I checked the label and it says Lamotrigine ODT and tells me to dissolve one on my tongue every day.

My pdoc is a freak from outer space and I don't know what this stuff is. She didn't say a word to me about any change like this. I googled it, but nothing really clear came up...do I have to dissolve it on my tongue? What happens if I just swallow it? I have one of the normal 200's left for tonight (thankfully), but I don't know what to do...take the ODT or ???

Does anyone have experience with Lamictal ODT?

I am freaked out. I do see online that Lamictal ODT must not be swallowed whole, but must dissolve on the tongue. WTF? Who did this - my freaky-deek pdoc or the pharmacy? I know this is probably crazy, but I wonder if she did this on purpose to make me leave, because she probably knows I don't like her.

Please, if anyone has information, please share it. I don't even think I can sleep I am so completely weirded out.

Either your pdoc or the pharmacy could have made a mistake in prescribing or filling your prescription. Call your pdoc & ask questions if neither of them mentioned changing your meds on you.

I would call the pharmacy and have them check the pills before taking them, mine were white. If it is correct and she marked odt have her send a corrected script to the pharmacy.

I'm sorry that happened to you, BethRags. I'd be upset by it, too.

My psychiatrist is careless sometimes, so I've had to double check things. Also, I can't speak for other people's pharmacies, but if I buy the med (meaning the copay) and leave with it, it's mine. No refund. I'm not sure if there are any exceptions to that (maybe if they accidentally gave me am opiod???? or it was clear they accidentally gave me someone else's meds.) Given this, it's always a good idea for me to look at what the pharmacy puts in the bag before I leave. They are quick to put it in the bag, though. I have to stand there and take it out to check it. I have, indeed, discovered errors a few times.

Thank you, each of you, very much.

My pdoc said she thought I had asked for the sublingual Lamictal. What the serious eff?! Why would I ask for the sub. 200mg, keep the 100mg and all my other meds the same, for swallowing with water? Now, that there makes a whole lotta sense

I have learned to look at the bottles before the pharmacy bags them but, yeah, the tech always practically grabs them out of my hand. And I've caught plenty of errors, too.

I wish so much that I could throw all my damned bottles of pills in the river
