if you're not suicidal, drug addicted, and if drug-drug interactions are OK and the psych is a-OK...now and then,t he barbiturates can be used. phenobarbital is still used, every now and then, although i hear its nasty stuff (long acting, drug-drug interactions, not the most pleasant stuff ever). there are a couple of other not as long acting barbiturates on the market, some are reasonably priced (i guess that means at least some people are taking them for sleep, anxiety, etc.) and others are specialty drugs (I guess?), so there's a crazy insane mark up, which...would make insurance coverage an issue, especially since many plans frown upon Rx sedatives, in general.
xyrem (Rx GHB) is used as part of treatment in narcolepsy...I've read 2nd hand accounts of people (I'm guessing with excellent coverage and doctors who saw potential for help...) using it in psych indications. other than that, I have 0 guesses as to what might potentially be helpful. :-( |

I am spending a lot of time meditating during these sleepless hours. Hours and hours of it, actually, every day. Just because, as Christina says, it seems like even that much must be better for my brain than being on the computer or up and around. So, will keep doing that. Will take a look at some of these--thanks again!! __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

I responded to your other thread but I want to recommend that you join a drum circle. When I was actively drumming once a week, I slept like a log. I felt 1000% better while I was drumming, about everything going on in my life.

I was out in Thorazine my first time experiencing psychosis. It made me SO snowed under yet I wouldn’t sleep. I’d just pace in my ip room! They said I was manic and psychotic. Eventually I asked to be taken off of it. It was giving me the “Thorazine shuffle” I hated it
