Honestly, I have heard some people praise Cymbalta. They find it very helpful, they find that it does what it's supposed to do.
I was prescribed Cymbalta for chronic pain and depression; I took it for about a year. It just wasn't effective for me. I've been on all of the SSRI's and SRNI's. With all of them I've found that they start to be effective within some days...3, 4, or 5. Kind-of a "kick start." Then it takes around three weeks to reach a stable blood level. __________________ |

I am with Beth here. It happened pretty quickly. I found Cymbalta to be very helpful, the other best one for me was Wellbutrin.
That said, I did get manic on Cymbalta eventually, so, just be aware. It can happen. __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

Oh - I forgot to mention that I got manic on the SSRI's, too. Even with bipolar meds (Lamictal, for example) I had weird reactions to SSRI's.
I have been taking Pristiq for almost 2 years (along with my other meds). I find the Pristiq really helpful for depression, and it doesn't set off mania. Anyway, how's it going with the Cymbalta? __________________ |

Hey @signs: I did not have side effects, I was 3 months post pardum (that and bipolar are a bad combo, and in the hospital due to bad SH. They put me on the cymbalta and an AP and within 4 days I was a new woman. I know that is very atypical but after years of ups and downs, I was so relieved to feel normal- (well I am never normal). I do not think it was placebo I believe it just jived with my body. This was 16 years ago and I have only needed 1 dose in increase from 60mg, to 90mg.
