anyone take haldol for their antipsychotic medication?
I am bipolar 1, I was having psychosis in the hospital but do not have any now that I am not manic.
I was getting haldol injections but I complained and she is calling in 10mg pills. wasn't called in at 4pm so I called back and gave her my pharmacy phone number.
I am afraid to be on it long term.

I take Haldol but only 2.5mg with 4 for prn. Are you afraid of side effects from higher doses?

I take 5mg haldol in am and 10mg at night. With it I take cogentin. It’s helped more than the newer anti p!

I forgot about my dosage of 10 mg twice a day and did not get the 100mg injection.

So I am back to 10mg twice a day.I need to fill up my pill boxes to reflect this proper dosage.

I was getting heart burn for some odd reason so am taking pepcid 20mg.
need to up date my med lists.
thank you for your input! bizi

I took Haldol many years ago for some time. Honestly, I find that the older AP's are more helpful and have less side-effects than the new AP's.

I've had hell with the new AP's, but am having excellent benefit with the old AP perphenazine (Trileptal).

Yes, and there's also a perphenazine that's combined with Prozac. I'm not sure what to think of combining meds like that. On one hand, it sounds convenient. But if someone has side effects or one med works, but the other doesn't how to know which is which?

btw, how is the Haldol working for you, bizi?
