I am taking Magnesium along with other supplements. I decided it couldn't hurt to take it. I use a brand that says it is formulated for brain health. It is difficult to tell if it is helping.

I'm on 1000 mg of Mg for migraines. I never thought about it having a role with depression but looking back it might? I'm not sure but there may have been fewer depressive episodes since I've been on it, especially at this dose. On the other hand that also is about when I started clozapine so I can't be sure. I'll think more about it.

There are actually different forms of magnesium supplements. I am using the Magnesium L-threonate compound since I read it may help with anxiety and depression. I might try another brand or type to see if I notice any difference. Healthline has an article on types of magnesium here.

I take it to help with my sleep cycle. One thing I learned is that all magnesium is not created equal. What I mean is there is magnesium sterate and chealted magnesium and IME the chealted is better for sleep.
