So my panic attacks are starting to be a daily event and they are increasingly getting worse. I think the "shelter in place" is really starting to get to me. I've been working from home since early March and go back into the office early July at the earliest. The panic attacks have been coming on around 5:30 pm like clockwork and I jump into bed and ride it out...until I fall asleep. I've been getting 9 to 11 hours of sleep a night due to this.
I think this week I need to try and combat this new routine and make sure I'm doing something to occupy my mind instead of TV like reading a book while putting on some music or practice piano. I started learning piano a few months ago (I'm at the point where it's getting harder and I'm feeling intimidated so I'm not as motivated to practice. I did buy the stickers you put on the keys this week so hopefully that should help reduce the intimidation but that's beside the point). I'm not looking for sympathy but I'm just wondering if others are feeling the same way due to being isolated at home and how are you handling it? __________________ current medication: Lamitcal - 400 mg Latuda - 60 mg Klonopin - 0.5 mg Trazodone 100 mg (as needed) Medications I've been on in the past: Haldol, Risperdal, Ability, Depakote, Lithium, Celexa, Wellbutrin, Geodon. |

Hi Jennyanydots! That's great that you are learning to play the piano. No need to rush to harder pieces. Or just that them little by little, practicing a lot on small portions. Do you have some privacy when practicing?
You are definitely not alone in anxiety increase due to the shelter at home. I was telling my therapist last Tuesday that I feel very mild agoraphobic-like symptoms showing after having triumphed over them about four years ago. She encouraged me to get out, little by little, to places that are the least anxiety-provoking. It sounds like you are coming up with plans, though. If one doesn't work, do give another a try. |

That’s great that you’re learning the piano . I’ve taught myself to play, it’s definitely doable.
My anxiety has also been worse lately . I agree, going out in small steps is a good approach to take, the least anxiety provoking first. __________________ |

I didn't have a panic attack yesterday (yay!) and I was able to stay awake until 9 pm. Progress. And I did get some piano practice in and finished a book I was reading (keeping busy) so I think that helped.
