Default 7 second hug

I heard from a friend that a 7 second hug released some kind of endorphins that make us feel good.
So I was thinking what about if we could use this to help with depression. So the challenge is to talk with your partner, family member or friend and explain how these 7 second hugs give us endorphins that could help with depression and then try to hug for 7 sec at least once every day.
I know its a bit of a crazy idea, but please if you try it let me know how it goes....

I like to practice day long hugs, but rarely find the time. Or have I moved into cuddle territory?

My hubby gives me a cuddle every day anyway :-) Unless we are arguing! And yes, it gives me a warm and safe feeling every time! I love a hug!!!! I think human contact (physical) with a loved one is very therapeutic

Only 7 seconds? Like allme, BF gives me hugs every day. Plural. He finds them very helpful too. We are quite alone in the world, and there's just something about hugging ... like...feeling, not just knowing, that someone really cares and provides a feeling of refuge from the outside world (which I have a very hard time with). When things are particularly rough out there, we tend to hold all the more tightly and/or rock, which also seems to provide an extra measure of comfort. (I went for years with virtually no hugs, so appreciate them all the more.)

The endorphins can't hurt either! (Wonder if rocking releases even more of them???)

I've not found them particularly useful against depression (sorry to report), but hope they do for others. Though I must say it shows a great deal of fortitude on his part to do this despite my very grubby self and frustratingly unresponsive state! I more often get anhedonia and/or numbness, more than crying. Crying is a more recognizable sign to others that something is wrong. Had to explain the way depression tends to manifest for me, so that he could better recognize it, know that it is not something he did or didn't do, or expect crying very often. He doesn't really understand it, but has better learned to recognize it. My not being able to feel or respond doesn't mean his hugs are any less appropriate. Doesn't lift it at all, but it can't hurt, right?

Makes me sick to the heart, Oh I feel so tired. And the way the rain comes down hard, that's how I feel inside.

hope they make things easier to endure at least....

I guess I'm not expecting miracles but will take every little bit of help I can find to stay stable... I'm even trying to exercise (more endorphines!!!!)

I need a lot of hugs and most evenings relax on the couch with my bf watching TV and cuddling. I also sometimes stop him out the blue to hug me. It gives me a Warm fuzzy feeling and a sense of belonging; not being alone
