Let us know how pdoc appt goes....thinking of you. Hang in there and post a lot in this forum so we can support you. Unfortunately, a lot of bipolar disorder is riding it out, so to speak. You're a sweetie - PM me anytime.

Hello!! I am newly diagnosed with bipolar from my family doctor (who treats bipolar and other mental disorders). I go to the psychiatrist next month for a "formal" dx. I have SEVERAL family members with bipolar and I've suffered with ups and downs since I was a teenager. I look forward to meeting new friend.

Welcome! I will send you a friend request - PM me anytime. There is a family history of bipolar disorder in my family, too. Good luck at your appointment next month and let us know how it goes.

Hi, I'm Katie. Diagnosed with depression at 15, anxiety after that, panic disorder etc.
Diagnosed st 23 with bipolar ll. Suicide attempt at 24 (dissosociative crisis and mixed state) psychosis later that year.
Did "ok" for a bit, got pregnant, was cured. For several years.
Second child, depression came back, anxiety. PMCgave me over to my previous pdoc. Pdoc didn't even remember me after 10 years, I think. We just went with depression/anxiety. Meds later, antidepressant sends me hypo manic. Good times. Pdoc says I have to accept the bipolar dx if I want to or not.
So 12 years of meds, I've hit them all. All no good.
Literally. Literally. Visit after last, pdoc says "we're running out of options. Benzos are next. My job, makes this scary.
But I left my last visit with a relaxation cd and rx for clonazepam. This is what it's come to.
On that note, it actually seems to work well.
Just that I'm a detox nurse at a chemical dependency rehab. And benzodiazepines are scary .

Hi there everyone. I've been diagnosed Bipolar 1 since 1978. In the years between my really out-there manic episodes, in the very beginning and one 3 year "bender" that ended a few years ago. Still have the occasional hypo-mania and rare mania. Depression is not much of an issue, but anxiety is still one of my bummers.

I'm glad to be here. Always good to share and support. I hope you will find me to be helpful as I am sure you will be too!

Just call me Hawk. Thanks Folks.

Hi diagnosed a few years ago? I never knew of bipolar, but I guess I always had it though I was mostly manic so never was an issue with me for I was happy even if I over spent or did other things supposad bipolar people do during mania. Though I got to the end of my Masters degree and got depressed. and that's when I kept getting this bipolar thrown in my face. so after awhile of quetioning I fully accept I'm bipolar 1 mixed episodes. So I'm with a new psych for a few months still trying to find a drug that is right for me.
