I have to go to a university mental health clinic. I see an intern (a student trainee) that changes every year. A senior physician comes in briefly at the end of each appointment, but even that changes as often as EVERY APPOINTMENT!

Wouldn't I get better care if I had the same doctor who knew me? I might have gotten diagnosed as bipolar (instead of just depressed) much earlier.
Unfortunately, that's not possible, as my insurance only allows for the regional mental health clinic.

I've had the same primary physician of my choice for years and years and years and get the highest care. At my last physical he was checking up about my mental health care and asked about the doctor, and I explained this to him. I could tell he was quietly appalled and dismayed.

Most of the time appointments are 2-12x a year. What I would do is write down important things about you and your current symptoms and past and present meds and all side effects. keep it updated and bring it with you it'll cut down on catch up time.

I totally agree ... keep a detailed journel that you can show or use as reference when you do see a pdoc ...different pdoc does suck ... at least you would hope they would hsve notes left from esch visit ...
