What are your voices like?
I have three kinds. The first and most prevalent is hearing senseless chatter, as if I were in a busy restaurant overhearing snippets of conversation. The second is hearing the angels whisper overhead as they circle around me. The third is hearing the entity laughing menacingly. The second two kinds are the scariest for me. I don't particularly mind the chatter. I've had it my whole life and never even realized it was a hallucination. __________________ dx: schizoaffective bipolar type; OCD; GAD rx: clozapine, clonazepam PRN |

I don't hear imaginary voices.
In fact, it's hard for me to hear real ones nowadays. But I hear crickets and insects. When I'm going to lay down at night. Sometimes birds chirping. There must be a million critters outside my house. Does this helps, probably not to you. However, it's the first time I mention it. And it has helped me. Cheers. __________________ ]Roses are red. Hi Franz. I don't have schizoaffective disorder, so I have only had psychotic auditory hallucinations during full blown manias and my severest depressions. My psychosis was most often delusional, with just a handful of hallucinations, maybe 60% visual and 40% auditory. What I heard was mostly voices (sometimes single, sometimes a few) calling my name or actually answering thoughts I was having. A few were odd animal sounds like chicks peeping, lion roaring, or the like. My auditory hallucinations were less frightening than my visual and delusions, except the chicks peeping I thought were the devil (long story).
I have had a period of auditory hallucinations that may not have been psychosis. For about six months I experienced musical hallucinations. They were not pleasant, though. Especially when they increased in frequency. Unlike my psychotic hallucinations, I eventually knew the musical hallucinations were not real. In the beginning, it was original music, from classical to jazz to Indian Pow Wow music, and other types. Then it was more like a DJ on the radio talking, but I couldn't understand him. Sometimes other incomprehensible voices joined with muffled music or static in the background. Then later, I started to only hear the intro to a U2 song I knew. Just the music, no singing, and it would repeat and repeat. I grew terrorized by it. My psychiatrist sent me to a neurologist. He thought they were seizure activity, but the neurologist thought it was psychiatric-based. Anyway, I was put on a large dose of Tegretol XR (an anticonvulsant moodstabilizer) and that eventually stopped them. The last time I was psychotic, I only had a delusion and visual hallucinations. That was in late May of last year. |

faint " background " noise like your chatter ... and clearer louder words ... not whole sentences ... very unnerving as I can not determine direction ... just seems to surround me ...

That's interesting, wiretwister. I can always tell direction but the chatter actually comes from someplace in between the outside world and my head. The whispering and laughing are both outside my head for sure though. Brains are weird.
BirdDancer: Yikes, those musical hallucinations sound terrible. Glad you found something to make them stop. __________________ dx: schizoaffective bipolar type; OCD; GAD rx: clozapine, clonazepam PRN |

I feel like there is a mob of people mumbling behind me. When I get really bad I can make out words that always are negative, off yourself kinda crap... it that’s only when I get really bad in an episode.

I heard chatter when I had a psychotic break. Now I hear an echo of my thoughts if I listen carefully. Once in a while I will hear a denigrating comment that comes from who knows where.

I get this too, for example I was in an empty parking lot one day and heard people like I was surrounded or in a crowd with a bunch of random talking. It was extremely disorienting. Mainly I deal with spirits, they've followed me for years. They say different things, most of the time it's not very bad stuff but it's very distracting and noisy. I did have some bad stuff being said though a few days ago, I thought it was a demon or the devil talking....I've never had that particular one happen ever before but it freaked me out.... I wasn't doing well for awhile so symptoms were getting bad __________________ R.I.P mom 8/6/55-1/15/16 “All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.” -St. Francis of Assisi

I hear growling. Like I'm being stalked by a lion or a tiger. It's only happened on a few occasions, but it scares the living crap out of me every time.

Most of the time its just chatter. Sort of like having a tv on in the next room or hearing a muffled conversation in a busy restaurant.
Ive heard all sorts of things though. When it is clear it is generally only a few words. A few times it has been significantly longer than that. Threats. Promises. All sorts of things. Usually its male voices. Usually the content is either religious or threatening in some way. They suggest danger sometimes and at other times they directly threaten it. Sometimes though they are very kind. Sometimes its just the same word repeated. Sometimes its laughter. I hate the laughter. That my mind would be so cruel to me to send all this scary stuff and then laugh at me as I struggle to deal with it is just messed up. But for the most part... I cant understand them. They sound differeny at times. Like different crowds of people. Sometimes they are high pitched, sometimes they are low pitched, sometimes they are angry sounding, sometimes they are gravelly, sometimes whispering. All sorts of things My visual hallucinations tend to be more elaborate. And if its supported by an auditory hallucination those tend to be more elaborate too Last edited by Under*Over; Mar 05, 2019 at 11:57 AM.. |

My voices are spirits I'm talking to living, dead, spiritual. It's like real life conversations with them. The meds shut them out.

During my biggest, longest episode, God was talking to me...telling me to do bizarre and dangerous things. For the most part, I did them. Then, during that same episode, it got really, really dark and
