I wanted to check if anyone has had luck with Transcranial Magnetic Therapy bringing them out of bipolar depression. My depression is so severe that I am unable to work and have been functioning very poorly. My p-doc has recommended this as I seem to be treatment resistant with medications and really struggle with the side effects. I would greatly appreciate any personal experiences or knowledge related to this.

Hello Tayt: Thank you for bringing your question here to PC. I don't have an answer for you. But, since this is your first post, I did want to at least welcome you to Psych Central. One additional forum, here on PC, where you might consider posting with regard to your question would be the other treatments forum. Here's a link:

Welcome!! rTMC can be a lifesaver for many people with Bipolar depression so it is worth trying. I had 30 odd treatments over six weeks but unfortunately it only made me slightly hypomanic then back to crippling depression. I was ill for several months after. There is a significant success rate though so don’t take my experience as a given.
