Default Is this Akathisia?

So idk if I have bipolar, BUT you guys I trust...

Ever since my pdoc upped my lexapro dose, I haven’t been able to stop pacing around. I literally can’t sit still in one spot for more than a few minutes. For example, I squirm in my chair at work—often changing positions—and have to constantly be walking around. My heart is racing as well. I feel like I need to be on the move, and I even fidget while walking. Figuratively speaking, I feel like I have some sort of “energy” emanating from my legs, if that makes sense. And that “energy” is why I keep pacing. I want to burn it off so that I can relax. But of course I can never seem to burn it off...

I got to work at 5:30 this morning and paced around the building for a solid 20 mins (because no one was here).

Is this Akathisia or something else?

Could possibly be akathisia, could possibly be growing hypomania, could also be anxiety, or something else. You would be best to ask a psychiatrist, bluebicycle. Anyone here can only speculate. Your doctor can get to the bottom of it and hopefully help you accordingly. Are you only on the Lexapro? If so, does your psychiatrist know that? Your psychiatrist needs to know the exact situation to help you best.

I know the feeling (or similar to what you describe). It can be very miserable and grow worse, depending on what it is. I'm sorry you're experiencing this.

Hmmm, definitely not anxiety. There is nothing I am anxious about.

I don’t meet with my psychiatrist until next Thursday. He knows about my med changes since he was the one who made them. But I’m tapering off lamictal and increasing my lexapro. And I don’t want to take my rexulti.

When you say "I don't want to take my rexulti", does that mean you haven't been taking it at all for some days? Or that you take it, but just don't like to? If you haven't been taking rexulti, I hope your psychiatrist knows that.

I had the same thing happen when I was on lexapro. I could not sit still, kept getting up, was hyper and couldn't stop talking, I just went on and on (pressured speech). I ended up having to get off it

Did your pdoc up your Lexapro dose knowing that you had stopped taking Rexulti? Are you still taking Ritalin?

When I was on Latuda, I was like that but I was also anxious for no reason.

I also had a very similar thing happen on Lexapro. It was almost painful to sit still and I was very agitated. At first I thought it was akathisia, but it was a mixed episode according to my doctor. Whichever it was, definitely was caused by the Lexapro and got worse with an increased dose. It stopped after I tapered off of it. Also, I had a much milder version of it happen on Adderall awhile back.

Yes, I mean that I haven't been taking Rexulti.

My pdoc knew during our last appt that I stopped taking the Rexulti. He told me to take it and simultaneously increased my lexapro and reduced my lamcital. I never agreed to taking the Rexulti again. He just said, "Take it. Meanwhile, I'll change up your existing meds."
