For those of you who saw my post about deciding to go to the hospital, I went, was there for 6 hours with my boyfriend. The psych doctor started me in risperdol until I have my appointment on 04/26 I took it last night, and today all I want to do is sleep, but no more racing thoughts and my head is pretty clear.

Again, thank you everyone!

Risperdol brought me out of mania quickly. I felt like a zombie for a few days, but the fogginess wore off eventually. I'm glad it has helped slow things down for you until you can see your new doctor.

Thanks for the update, kstella95! I'm glad you sought help at the hospital, though I know those long hospital ER waits are really sucky.

I found Risperdal to be very helpful for curbing my manias and mixed states. Being initially sleepy is a very small price to pay for moodstabilization. I don't recall Risperdal making me sleepy long-term. Maybe you'll get past that quickly.

BirdDancer, I hope so, today just dragged at work, all I wanted to do was nap; but I know from previous experience with Seroquel that it made me feel like that the next day only, so, I’m hoping this is the same.

It wasn’t bad at first, just sitting in the waiting room with “5 people” ahead of me it felt like it was taking forever, then once I was in a room it took an hour for the psych dr to video call me to talk to me.

It was long, but I’m glad to have gotten help.

I was hoping they were going to give me something Monday night, but they didn’t; and I had to wait until last night in general to start it. So the past couple of days were not fun. Today was better.

So glad ER was able to stabilise you without needing many days of IP. Back to work so quickly! Go you. There can be side effects to Risperidol after a while so keep an eye out and tell your pdoc when you see him/her on the 26 th April. I hope this stability continues to strengthen.
