I’m really struggling with so much chronic pain made even worse every time a cold front comes through. I’m like behind the pain..if mentally I can get in front of it I can handle much better.. sucks for sure.

Ultra sound on my liver tomorrow.
I hope the ultrasound goes well. How have you gotten in front of the pain in the past? It makes sense that battling it mentally will provide some relief. There are also some who believe placing your brain waves in an altered state can help. There are lots of YouTube videos on this with music and meditations. I searched 'music for pain relief'. I'm not sure if it would help and you may have already tried it. I just find that when I'm battling anything, getting my brain to change gears to move into a more relaxed state is often a solid first step.

Much love to you Christina. We all hate to see you suffering like this and want to see you feeling better soon.

Physically?
I am in so much pain...
I am exhausted because I have not slept more than 2-3 hours a night for weeks now. I am sure this exacerbates the pain and vice versa.

Fern, I do believe reaching a state of relaxation (and alternate states/brain waves) can be very helpful in both managing pain (to some degree, and I will take any relief I can get) and in increasing the potential for possibly getting some additional sleep.

I have ordered a product with ingredients much like the tinctures an herbalist used to make for me. She'd made different strengths. I would use a less potent mix during the daytime and a highly potent mix at night. If I was getting hypomanic, I would use the night-time tincture during the day. Sadly, she has passed on. I have not found an herbalist so talented since.

This product has the same ingredients she had used in the tinctures she had made for me.
This is a transdermal patch and is time released so there is less likely to be a "hangover" in the morning.

This is called:Klova - Topical Sleep ZPatch. Naturally a Better Night's Sleep. I intend to try this over the weekend.
I will follow-up , sharing my experience.
I hope everyone has a healthy weekend!

I have my fingers and my toes crossed for you that the patch works! I'm sorry you lost your trusted provider. That is always hard. It is great that you were able to pick up some knowledge while you worked together.

Hopefully I’ll get results of Ultrasound Monday.

Ahh how do I get in front of my pain???? A lot has to do with mindfulness, meditation and sometimes just plain old anger. Lately with just one medical problem after another and then all those steroids , ugh .. I have just felt beat down so then some self pity comes into play. So I need to get rid of the self pity and mentally just get in front of the pain.

My pain is always going to be part of my life. I have zero hope that Fibro will ever been relieved fully in my lifetime. Not to mention PsA ...So I gotta work with what I have.... chronic pain , never ending insomnia and chronic fatigue..

Yep self pity has gotta go !

My weekend of indulgence has almost come to an end. I carbed and caloried it up this weekend! Food, wine, fancy coffee drinks...feel terrible physically but it was so much fun! Back to low carb, low calorie tomorrow straight through thanksgiving. Won’t even get on a scale bc I know whatever weight I did lose just slipped right back on this weekend!

Can't seem to get any support on the thread i posted so will try here. I've been going to Overeaters Anonymous (OA) for ten weeks now. I've made eleven meetings. I've quit many times. Once i picked up my phone to call the chairperson to tell her i was quitting and make arrangements to get the key FOB back to her when i got a text from one of the other members and was cheered and comforted and decided to keep up with OA. I quit again on Friday after a dismal meeting but have had such a disastrous day in eating i have finally admitted that i need help, accepted that i need help and not just going to meetings but seeing my doctor for his direction on how to eat healthy and getting a sponsor for support. I really felt like i hit bottom today.

Fern, that's hilarious! Liquid fire indeed! My guts are just recovering from six strips of bacon this morning. My stomach is soooo sensitive! I'm attracted to all the wrong foods. I just this week discovered these spicy cheesies that are just enthralling! But danger to my stomach so i threw the rest of them down the garbage chute. I miss them already. My stomach has been in turmoil this afternoon and i'm feeling pretty weak but i know now that i need help and will seek it out.

Thanks for the yuks!

Thanks for the yuks!

My husband used to get the craziest heartburn. He would wake up in the night a mumble about liquid fire. He eats much better now.

I wish we could see with our eyes more quickly the effect food has on our bodies. The delay makes it all too easy to indulge and worry about it later.

You're making some good progress recognizing you want to make changes and you need support. Have you spent any time visualizing your ideal state of health? What it would look like, what it would feel like mentally emotionally and physically? Not your perfect state, but something attainable and that you could feel good about?

Sometimes it helps if we can first paint a picture for ourselves in our mind. It is a little more tangible than just having a number you're shooting for. You can then spend time each day in meditation or quiet reflection returning to this image.

I can't remember if I told you my skin picking solution. I used blister bandaids that are thick and seal tightly so they are hard to pick off so you don't resume picking. They really protect the skin and let it heal. Mine usually last 5-7 days. Last time I was IP I had 4-5 of them at a time; they were very nice about letting me have them. I'm trying to paste a picture of them here; we'll see if that works. It didn't but here's the google results page: blister bandaids toes - Google Search
