I would talk to your GP to taper off the lamictal since it can't be cut. Know it'll take a while to stable out. Just hold on. We're here for you. What are you doing about your pain?

My GP altho agreed that it would be wise to get off some but when I asked him in the past he of course told me handle it with Pdoc I only have Lyrica or very limited gabapentin for maybe twice a month for a day Thanks __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

Good luck to you! I totally understand why you don’t want to be on all of these nasty meds anymore. I hope that the transition is smooth for you.

Good luck! I am sure you will take it sure but slow. I have never had the xr but your method sounds good. Yes, it does look like you need a chemical break.

Sending best wishes in your venture, of course!
I think sometimes of doing the same, but can't risk things going sideways in my current situation. And there's no one to keep an eye on me (aside from pdoc and T, but the times in between are plenty long enough to get in trouble). I can have decent length remissions (looking back over time, granted, before I got dx'd, so a certain amount of guesswork), so alas, there's no way to know whether it's the meds keeping me balanced, or a remission. If I had more support and security, I'd likely try it too. I know we've always said around here that before trying going off, be sure to have a lot of coping skills in place. If anyone is armed with solid coping skills, it is you. Good luck! __________________ ********* Mr. Robot Makes me sick to the heart, Oh I feel so tired. Yes !! I am not sure I would do this if my husband wouldn’t be keeping an eye on me. I’m lucky I have him. My daughter who also has Bipolar isn’t very happy about my going this route.... but understands my motives. Tomorrow I fill my weekly Med boxes so I will start the Lamictal decrease. My tool box is indeed over flowing. Did you decide on jobs ? __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

My pill boxes are done Lamictal ever other day. I think the following week I’ll do every 3 days off. Etc
I plan to be off at the end of this 3 week taper. Then I’m guessing 2-3 weeks until my brain is working sans Med. It’s a seizure Med anyway it’s just off label it can work for the depressive end of Bipolar in some people. Tenex I just stopped outright. Then I will need to do a slower decrease off of doxipin as its one of the main reasons I can get some decent sleep. Might take a month. I’m just hoping that my severe insomnia doesn’t pop back up, it wasn’t unusual for me to go 5-6 days with no sleep. So Yes slowwwww for that one. Once that is complete I will decide what physical Med I will discontinue next. That’s the tricky part , there are a couple I just have no choice but to take. Anyone take Fosomax weekly ??? My bone density showed my bones aren’t happy. It’s an annoying Med to take ... leaves my stomach tore up for hours. Can’t eat with it per instructions for one hour. I’m feeling very positive about making these changes. My hunger has decreased since I stopped Latuda and have lost weight , so that’s a wonderful sign for me. __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

Even tho I've decided not to quit the latuda until I'm no longer living with mum I'm following your progress as I too want to take a break. Especially from the AP. I'm wishing that everything goes well for you.

Hi Christina,
I think I’ve gotten muddled up somewhere. Have you stopped taking all your meds? And was there a reason that compelled you to do so? Sorry if you’ve already explained everything but I just can’t find what’s what. __________________ Pookyl ———————————————————————————— BP1, GAD, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Claustrophobia Psych meds: Saphris, Seroquel XR, regular Seroquel. I have metabolic syndrome due to the meds. I decided it was time to make changes. I first quit Latuda due to weight gain. They say it’s “ weight neutral” but for me it has been slowly piling on the lbs. I have already lost weight and my appetite has decreased since I stoped it. If you look on this thread is a full list of medications I take psych and medical. I have just never felt so unhealthy in my life. All my meds mix together so I feel like it’s all a toxic explosion in the making. I need to detox off everything I possibly can. So ... I have a plan to go off numerous meds. I’m doing it carefully , I’m allowing for half life and then the time my brain to adjust sans Med. My husband will be watching me in case I’m not catching any possible problems. This is a well thought out plan. __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |
