I had come off my meds a couple months ago due to side effects and depression. I honestly felt less depressed after quitting zyprexa but anxiety and confusion was bad. I was daydreaming about being the president and staying up till 1am pacing around listening to music. Then sleeping 10 or 11 hrs. So I went to the new pdoc. He was a foreign guy, nice but hard to understand. It was a 90 minute apt but I didn't understand many of his questions. But at least I got new prescriptions. I had started taking 200 mg of lamictal 4 days ago on my own. He ended the lamictal and put me on tegretol 200 mg 3x day. Then back on risperdal 2mg. I feel not space after taking 2mg of risperdal and can focus better. It's only been 4 hrs. So maybe I will be able to cook for myself again and shower and walk the dog. I hope so because I've been very out of it the last 2 months. I feel more activated though and every time I've restarted risperdal after not taking it in a few months, I get hypomanic.

Glad you're feeling better on the Risperdal. I don't blame you for quitting Zyprexa. Seroquel did the same thing to me (causing severe depression), so I quit it and felt better shortly after.
Be careful with the Lamictal, though. If you ever go back on Lamictal for whatever reason, you should always slowly titrate up your dose because the faster you increase your dose, the higher the risk you have for developing Steven's-Jhonson's Syndrome (SJS). Usually doctors start patients on 25mg for that reason. |
