Today my Community Worker is coming to my flat to help me clean. I'm really unsure and anxious about it. I saw my ex Peer Worker this morning for a chat she says I need to do this. She says what she's noticed is I hold back a lot. As in there is something about me that just holds info back. I do it with everyone if I'm honest.

Currently.... my livingroom blinds have been shut for 2 years, my windows have not been opened in 6 years, my recycling needs doing, my house work needs doing and I mean EVERYTHING, food shopping needs doing etc etc

I've lost the ooomph and motivation to do anything.

Positive thoughts for my Worker coming to the flat in over 2 hours

I'm glad to read that someone is coming to help you at home, Miss Laura. I am optimistic that clearing some things up in your house will have some level of positive effect. Though my husband and I can barely afford it, we retained a housekeeper who comes twice per month to do the heavy cleaning work. That DOES make a positive difference for me, and of course my husband, too. I can understand your discomfort, but sometimes accepting help, though hard, is a significant step in helping oneself.

Thinking of you! It can be so difficult to open up and let people help and you are having to do that quite literally. That's really brave I think. This seems like a good lesson in humility. You have a lot of room to heal and grow at this time if you allow for it. I hope it goes well and you are able to enjoy a clean and refreshed living space as a result.

I'm glad your community worker can do that. A pdoc tried to set me up with services like that (home health nurse and someone to help me cook and clean) but he left the practice before it was put through. This pdoc thinks I'm far less severe. I hope it goes well and you get a lot done.

She came in and said my flat isn't that sever its untidy but nothing serious. I'm really worried still. I'm entitled to her helping me with food shopping too which I'm thinking of doing as I'm struggling with that at the moment. I can go in for little bits and bobs but a full shop I can't handle

Good for you Miss Laura!!! Go for it!
I know how hard it is to let someone in the house when you're overwhelmed and, in my case, ashamed. People who do this work do get pleasure from helping and can be good for improving the spirit and your everyday outlook on life.

Maybe with some else along it will be easier to do a bigger shopping trip(?) Seems like it would be, so hopefully it is. I can appreciate how hard it is to ask for/receive help, but try to let them do their thing. As winter4me mentions, people LIKE to help.

Thanks guys, I'm so ashamed for people to come to my flat as I see it as being judged. I don't know if I'll sleep tonight thinking about how today went
