Currently taking 50 mg Lamotrigine twice daily. Adding on 60mg Cymbalta once a day (will start Sunday). I’m concerned about triggering hypomania.
Anyone have experience with cymbalta they could share.? Thank you 😊 |

My wife is bipolar type 2. Before her diagnosis was clear she was on Cymbalta and respirdal. Cymbalta made her suicidal.
Cymbalta should never be administered to bipolar people. NEVER Cymbalta triggered 3 hospitalizations. She's now on fluoxetine(the only anti depressant that should be given to bipolar individuals) Her cocktail of the last 10 months consist of AM.. Fluoxetine.. Lamotrigine.. Lithium PM Latuda.. Lithium. She's now stable and functional. |

It helped me for a little bit then pooped out. I think I was on clozapine at the time so no risk/minimal risk of (hypo)mania.

First it did nothing to get me out of deep depression. Then after three months I went into a mixed manic psychotic state. That is my experience but all antidepressants have put me into mixed or at the least hypomanic states.

Never ??? No I’m sorry I must point out that this is False. Not every person will have a bad response to an AD and go hypo/Manic ....It can be life saver for so many people. I’m sorry your wife’s response was terrible but Everyone reacts differently I’m glad she has found a combination that is working well for her. __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

I was given is about a decade ago.. it’s often given in hope that it helps with Fibro pain. I wound up in a fetal position due to massive stomach pain from one dose, was awful.
I always get the weird odd strange reactions. I do know many people that take it and it’s very helpful. __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

I take 120mg of it, but I'm also on an antipsychotic. It works well for me. Has helped my anxiety and depression.

Like almost all antidepressants, Cymbalta triggered mania in me, which likely turned mixed. I am almost certain it was prescribed during a hospitalization (with a moodstabilizer and antipsychotic) and continued only briefly afterwards. It was a period when I was hospitalized or in IOP much of the year. A few times (I think including during that period) I was rehospitalized straight from IOP. I have bipolar type 1.
I know that some people with various types of bipolar disorder can/do benefit from some antidepressants, but others can't/don't. In my particular case, I benefit most from moodstabilizers and antipsychotics that are helpful for both poles of the disorder. |

I had taken it and actually responded pretty well for being bipolar. The only issue I really had was when I stopped taking it the withdrawls were horrible and that was still after a taper.
