Title says it all, I’m feeling really... isolated. I know it’s just my mind and the state that I’m in, but I’d still appreciate some company!

I’ll probably come back here periodically if that’s alright.

It’s 5:38am and I’ve jumped awake... oh boy. Today’s question from me is: What positive things do you guys do daily to manage symptoms?

I find exercise helps tremendously. Yoga is the thing for me but I like cardio too, like elliptical, biking (stationary and road), and I'm totally hooked on Pound. Pound is so much fun. It's not that I'm any good at it, I enjoy being around others that are doing the same thing. I have fun, enjoy messing up and laughing at myself, and the workout feels great. I probably look funny, because I'm over six feet tall, mostly bald, and kind of goofy, but I don't care what they think. I've been slacking lately, but I'm there right now

I know that feeling. I usually have people around, but I still feel alone and isolated at times. Good for you for reaching out. Hopefully we can help lighten things up a bit for you.

I do a number of things to stay healthy. I started with researching as much as I could about my possible diagnosis. It was helpful to learn the warning signs and classic symptoms to watch for. As a result, I started keeping a daily journal of my moods, sleep, diet, exercise and any other physical health issues. It helps me identify trends in the hopes of catching any future episodes before they spiral out of control.

I stay busy and spend time making sure I complete my daily tasks. I'm a stay at home mom and there's always something to do or someone to help or play with.

Exercise and eating well are important to me and they support mental health. I try to eat a limited amount of sugar and I also limit caffeine. I try to stay active and get out in the sun everyday possible. I also take a fish oil supplement too aid my mental health.

I lean on my coping skills when I need to. I use music and my favorite shows and movies as distractions a lot. I love to watch birds and take on projects around the house. I also write from time to time.

I have a good support system and I lean on them. I'm honest with my family, my friends, my therapist and my psychologist about how I'm feeling. I'm new to mental health struggles and I figure it takes a village. I'm also active here. I find that supporting others here and also seeking help has been a valuable form of therapy for me. I have learned so much from the kind people who give their time and knowledge. It is nice to speak with others who genuinely understand what it is like to live with these issues. I told my therapist the other day that she is fantastic, but she can never fully understand what it is like to experience psychosis and lose complete control of your mind. She agreed.

Adequate sleep, eating well, getting out in the sun, socializing and doing things like volunteering or participating in my community garden, meditation or other mindfulness things like walking in nature, exercising when possible. I don't do it too much, but doing creative things like painting or music can help me, too, especially if I am dealing with something emotionally difficult. These might sound like cliche answers, but if I do these often enough it makes a difference. I don't do them all every day, but do my best to do them throughout the week. Give me lack of sleep, poor diet based on caffeine and sugar, social isolation and/or lack of sun and it's a recipe for a dark place for me.

I like trivia games.

nothing too taxing on the brain, but trivia can be fun (and you learn something too.)

I have an amazon alexa. it's great

Thank you everyone for the wonderful suggestions! I suppose I can answer my own question for the sake of someone else seeing it and it helping them.

For me, art helps. Art helps a ton. Art and keeping up with my meds, and talking to people. I try my best to be honest about where I'm at and how I'm feeling.
I've also been learning some good coping skills in my IOP...!! Mostly that distraction can be very helpful. I've also learned to challenge negative thoughts with "this is just a thought"
and it has helped a WILD amount. Journaling is something I've taken up this past week or so, and I've been tracking my mood there. I think it'd be good to start tracking other things as well.

The most important things for me are medication and social interaction. I need to take my meds regularly, and I need to go out at least once a day to be around people, even if it's just at a cafe with people I don't know. I also find support groups very helpful. They are like this place but irl. I'm lucky that I'm in a big city that has a support group every day.

I have a small collection of vintage video games and a decent RetroPie setup to keep me entertained too. Sega is my current passion, Genesis and back. I like Nintendo's side too but Sonic is the most fun for me. It's always a speed run. I've ordered the Genesis mini already

I never was a gamer, but I found two online games, (Township and a Hidden Object game), that keep myself occupied. I also started watching some shows that I never watched before and opening my mind to different things.

The most important thing to me that keeps my mood up is a Luxurious Shower. I use my money to buy the best shampoos, soaps and body wash and I try and take really long showers. It's so helpful for the mood. To end the wonderful shower, I use wonderful smelling lotions from Bath and Body Works, or this one to feel like I have just been in a spa:
