I collect birds. Figurines, Art, books, bird feeders, etc.

Rain or snow? Which do you prefer?

Rain. I love the sound and look, and at least it means it is not that cold outside. However, first snows are always exciting and romantic. I love snow days, but hate driving in the snow.

Q: What was one of the worst physical injuries you ever had?

A: Pretty significant fracture to my left wrist playing basketball in college in NYC in 1986. It made taking notes pretty interesting the rest of the semester.

Q: Do you believe humans will colonize Mars one day?

I'd like to think they will

I think life on mars is a strong possibility

if not mars, hopefully another planet. I'd love to be able to journey in to space one day

question: did you have an imaginary friend as a child?

A: Yes. Soapie. No idea why I called her that. She didn't last very long as I recall; I think she was replaced by a kitten I called.......wait for it......Soapie!

Q: In honor of my night of bowel prep hell, have you had a colonoscopy? Don't forget the new recommendations are to start them at 45, unless you are lucky like me to start at 43.

Due to cancer genetics I’ve had annual colonoscopies since 40yrs of age. Such fun.

Have you ever belonged to a gym?

I don't " enjoy" them, but I don't " dislike" them either. they can be interesting, but I don't make it a hobby to go to them.

question: is their a period in history that you wish you could have been around to see?.

I know there is good and bad about most periods in history. I guess I am OK living in the current one, though there are several distressing things going on. If I really had to choose another, maybe the Roaring 1920s in the US before the big stock market crash. I do know that prior to that and not long after was very rough with WW1, the Great Depression and WW2.

LOL! No. When I was a little kid, I thought homework was totally optional. My parents were so laissez faire that they never even asked about. I recall a real humdinger of a situation with an onry teacher about my not caring. It's a funny story! Or maybe not, since she was violent. I did do homework most of the time as I grew older, but was still one of types that managed to get away with doing little. When I did apply myself, I truly excelled. That doesn't mean I didn't like learning. Just the opposite. I was also the type who wanted to participate in class all of the time. Surprised ? Sometimes I deliberately didn't raise my hand. No one did. So the teacher, frustrated, would say "So, BirdDancer, what do you think?" Extremely relieved, I would answer with glee. In the end, I was on top.

Q: Were/are you extroverted or introverted?

Yes, it is. My current, ongoing goal is to ride the complete form of this rather hilly trail, which is about 100 miles, in less than 7 hours. We'll see.

What is your all-time favorite psych med and why?

I was about 4 and my mom had pinned my hair up. I took one out and thought it would be a good idea to stick the little 'key' aka bobby pin into the 'hole' aka electrical socket. It shocked me so hard it threw me across the hall and into the wall. I remember my mother coming in and I exclaimed the wall had bitten me. It was a little scary at the time, but man I really flew. I tell people this is how my hair came to be so curly

Do you consider yourself broken?

raging vortex, I'm sorry I haven't responded to your request to share the story I referenced several posts above. I will then copy fern's question below, since her's is the latest one.

When I was about 6 or 7 years old, I had a female teacher who had a very bad temper, and likely disliked children. As I mentioned in the earlier post, I regarded homework as optional at that time. So one day she asked for my homework, and I told her I did it, but couldn't find it. That angered her and she started to yell at me that I should look for it.

I pretended to look for my homework in my school desk. Of course it wasn't there. That further fueled her anger so she yelled "Well is it in your cubby!!!!"

"I don't know," I said.

"Well look for it!!!!" she screamed loudly.

So I went to the cubby and kind of leafed through it. It was packed full of papers.

She watched and her fury rose, so she pushed me aside and violently threw out all of the papers from my cubby onto the floor. I was shocked! Then she went to my desk and violently knocked it over so that all of the papers in there flew out, too. The violence made her scream. Then she yelled that I should go to the principal's office. I gladly did. I don't recall being scared. Just shocked.

In the principal's office, I told him how violent she was and that she was scaring the other students and that she regularly made even the most popular boys in the class cry. He listened carefully and I think took me seriously. Then, after thinking what to say for a bit, he asked (in a calm way) if I had done my homework. To him, I was honest and said no, but that I still don't believe I deserved such an extreme behavior from the teacher.

The principal nicely said "Well, C, how about going back to the class and ask her what you can do to make up for the homework." Though I sort of didn't want to, I did what he said. The teacher told me something, more calmly, and then I spent much time cleaning up the extreme mess that she made of my papers. I don't know if the principal ever said anything to that teacher, but I believe he was more concerned about her behavior than my not doing my homework and lying about it to her. I don't recall her being as violent and rageful in the future, at least not in my class. Note: I had done other "bad" things in school, and in her class (sent out into the hall, to the corner, had to write sentences 25 times on the board, was given the paddle, evening/weekend suspension, etc.) I was a little naughty, but definitely didn't think the above behavior was appropriate from a teacher. Comparatively, I'm a goody two shoes now...usually

Next question for this thread is below.

wow, I can totally agree. that's a bit... extreme.

if I had a teacher who got like that just because I didn't do homework, I'd seriously question if she was up to the task of being a teacher

I remember 1 teacher at my school who would

Possible trigger:

the whole biting thing wasn't that nice, in fact it was kind of scary, but sometimes the way the other teachers handled it " now now medina, don't bite the children", it was like they were treating her like a child

and then we had the math teacher who always said " and class, don't forget that a square has 3 sides"

well 1 day someone (another teacher) overheard her and goes " actually, it's 4 sides. you should be ashamed of yourself.". I love talking about my school days

yes, I think of myself as broken, or to be more exact, "alive without direction"

in a video game that's just frozen. I don't know what to do, and anything I do do just makes me sad, I guess validating the point that life just doesn't work for me anymore. I can't handle it.

question: what will you be doing this halloween. doing something or avoiding it as much as you can

Biting? That doesn't even sound safe! Not just from the physical injury. That teacher was odd and disconcerting.

On Halloween, hubby and I will light our fireplace for the first time this season. It's our tradition. I love it! We skip the parties.

Q: What was your favorite candy that you used to get in your Halloween bag/bucket as a kid?
