We are more than our disorder. What are your BEST qualities?

This is always a tough question for me...

I’m loyal to a fault, I’m caring, I have empathy, I’ll always listen, I try to offer advice if I have any, it takes a lot to anger me. I’m kind, generous, have vast amounts of compassion, I have a quick witted often sarcastic sense of humor..I am like a vault full of secrets people have trusted me with over my life time.

My T told me I have “Grit” he said no matter what hell we have uncovered or struggles in my life and I become scattered I always pick up all the pieces and just get on with things.

I am very honest. I respect honesty in others. I'm a keen observer of people. I am a good author.

I'm empathetic and I truly enjoy listening to people, especially children. I treasure animals. I'm creative.

Spending money. Oh, I guess this one does not count. Well, my OCD can be helpful at times. Good qualities? Caring and empathetic. Friendly. Loyal. Giving. Like helping people who need help like the homeless.

I'm very honest. It's hard for me not to be, for better or worse.

Like Christina, I have a quick witted sense of humor that is sometimes a sarcastic type. Mine, though, can also be a little dark or often playful. I do well at entertaining myself.

I am not generally a melancholic type. I have almost never felt hopeless, as bad as things have gotten in the past. This makes me less prone to suicidal thoughts than some others.

I know that some people sometimes don't see it fully, but I really do care a lot about the health and happiness of others. I try to be as charitable as possible. I became more charitable after my roughest years with bipolar disorder.

I almost never hold grudges and am quick to forgive, including myself. The few grudges I ever held, have disappeared over time. Those were a result of gravely abusive behavior towards me, or more towards my mom, but I understand where it came from, so I now try to be generous. I'm pretty good about living in the present and not dwelling on the past, except the better things.

I recognize when I am wrong, but won't fake that I am when I don't believe I am. I'm not superficial.

I'm a great wife, but I am lucky to have a great husband. When I love, I love forever. I'm usually a good compromiser.

I can be tough. That has its benefits, though also its negatives.

I recognize my poor qualities, but listing them is not the point of this thread.

I am mostly resiliant to all the ****ed upness that people have dished out to me. Throughout my childhood and beyond. I have not become an abuser or a mean person despite having been abused by so many. And neither do I accept it if someone tries to wipe their feet on me. I have the ability to enforce healthy boundaries.

Sense of humour. I may be inheriting from my Dad's side the ability to go one, unrelenting, no matter what weird arse crap life is throwing at me, and I'm doing it without moaning like they have. Oh, and I'm helpful. Up until it became problematic I was the guy who helped you move, pick up the new furniture, save you from drilling into the main fuse box while hanging a shelf.

I'm helpful to others. I am open to negotiation and/or forgiveness re misunderstandings etc, These skills were not taught to me by anyone in my family of origin.
