All they do is disappoint you and then send you into a tail spin of depression. I had a job interview yesterday and was supposed to get a phone call from the recruiter that afternoon. I got nothing no email or phone call. Now I have to sit with this all weekend. All I want to do is sleep because it is 100 degrees out and I can’t paint the garage like I wanted to.
I hate the helpless feeling of not being able to do anything while job hunting. I just want to go live in a cave somewhere.

I am sorry you didn't hear back about the job. It must be so stressful, waiting for that kind of thing can be the worst! I hope you hear back soon. Do you have any other prospects lined up? I hope you find something quickly so you can stop being stressed about this.

Of course right after I write this I get an email. They said the owner had really positive feedback but the team wanted to think things over until Wednesday. I am going to e so anxious the next four days. If they decide yes then next is an in person interview and a site tour. So I still have to make it through that and still might not get a job. I could stop working altogether if my wife was will to work 15 more yes. She said no to that.

I can relate. I've been stuck in not knowing a few times especially when coming to job prospects. Wishing you the best of luck. I know it can be very frustrating. Anxiety can makes things worse for sure and getting impatient with people when waiting for answers is pretty common. Send you best wishes! Good luck.

Now I have family and friends questioning some of the things I said during the interview. But they were just questions about logistics. Because the commute will triple with this job and I needed to know if it would still be possible to pick up my kids from aftercare. If I can’t do that then there was no point in continuing with the interview. But I also told them that I have worked weekends and overnight before. So there shouldn’t be a question of commitment. I mean a long commute and kids are going to be a daily fact and we need an answer to it or why waste everyone’s time. I only asked if they had flexible schedules because my current job is completely flexible. They said as long as I was there a majority of the time the people I work with are and have a pretty regular schedule it was fine.

It seems absolutely fair to ask about a flex work schedule up front. I imagine they appreciated your being honest about your needs. An interview goes two ways and you were smart to find out ahead of time if they could accommodate you. Wishing you all the best on this!

I didn’t ask about benefits or income but I don’t see anything wrong with that either. Knowing all that goes into your decision to take a job why can’t I have the info up front. Why does everyone have to play games. Just lay all your cards on the table and see if things fit. It would make things easier without all the guessing and anxiety. I just wish my family and friends would be supportive and stop making me more anxious.

Hi Crook32,

I am sorry this process has been so problematic.

I totally agree with you. Salary/hourly wage must be disclosed, as well as insurance and any/all other benefits.
You need to know these things in order to decide if it's best for you to accept a job offer or not.

You must feel ... a lot of negative feelings... when friends and family start second-guessing you! I'd be very upset if my family did this to me.

I hope you will get more detailed information about every aspect of this decision and will have clarity in knowing if this position is for you or not.

I often find it helpful to set my intentions about various aspects of my life. In this case, I might outline my "intentions" re: work/getting a new job. I then find out more detailed information and see if any of it meets any of my "intentions." Just something I often find helpful.

I hope things come into alignment enough to allow you to assess things and to make decisions with clarity.!!!

I'm not sure which people you hate? Is it all people, your prospective employer or your friends and family?

In this case the people who said they would get back to me with an answer and now are making wait longer. Also my friends and family who told me I blew it by asking about flex time because I need to pick up my kids. But in general I do get annoyed by most people.

Why does having to write a thank you email be so hard? I am totally blanking. I am supposed to find out more info from the interview later this afternoon. Honesty I can’t take any criticism or feedback right now.

My son was getting pretty stressed out when he was interviewing for his first job. Less so for his second one as he already had a job at the time, although it was for him a toxic work environment. He was having severe back pain and they wouldn't do an ergonomic assessment despite asking for a doctor's note for this purpose. I ended up driving with him to buy an ergonomic chair on our own dollar. At one point he was in so much pain he asked for two days vacation and used that time to send out a few applications. Lo and behold he got interviewed for a fantastic job where everyone has ergonomic furniture including a chair and a sit/stand desk. I had to talk him out of just quitting that day and taking his vacation days instead. Now he has a much more interesting job that pays a lot more too. Sometimes there are silver linings to hardships.

Said they like me except for the fact I haven’t written proposals and interact with sponsors. But it looks like I get an in person tour next week. Now I have to go buy clothes because I have no nice ones that fit.

Should find out later today if I get the in person interview. I am still waiting on answer to questions about the contract. I am worried that it being a contract to hire gig will be too stressful for me and hurt performance. I am trying to do a pros and cons list but it is hard because some things carry more weight than others. Changing health insurance is like a full time job because there are too many options.

Good, good job hanging in there. They dont always tell salary up front because they might consider it negotiated. That’s more stressful of course. You can always ask. I know this whole situation has been a long road. Have you built exercise into your routine? It’s a must for me, helps with my stress levels more than anything else except friends. Anyone would be lucky to get you.

Didn’t get the job. They wouldn’t give a straight answer why. I am tired of looking.
