I am not sure whether it is a coincidence or not.... I skipped one dose of Lamictal, and I am a mess. I take 200 mg twice per day. I also didn't have my Latuda on me and missed that dose yesterday. In the past, I have noticed a significant change even when I miss one dose of my meds. However, I am not sure if that is even possible. Maybe it's just my mood?

I have been experiencing depression that is getting worse and worse. I have been tearful most of the day. It has been bad for several weeks now, but today was terrible. It feels like everything is wrong, yet I don't have any clue what is really wrong, although that sounds like it makes no sense. My energy has been low, I don't feel like doing much and feel very bad about myself. Every now and then I'll see people and say and do the right things, but in the end, it doesn't change anything. Then, I fall apart again. Now, I'm just venting though. I do feel like I'm in a dark place where I can't see the light.

Just wondering if anyone is this sensitive to missing a dose or two of meds, or maybe this isn't medication related? The depression definitely came before this, but I just feel worse than ever.

Personally I have never had much of a reaction from skipping a dose here or there of any medication, altho some people do of course.

Thinking back you have been struggling for a while now??

Do you chart your mood daily ?? I’ll admit I stopped quite a while ago , dunno why , just forgot. I think if you can kind of step back a bit you might realize this has been coming for a while. Maybe try out a mood tracker on your phone , there are loads of them now., it’s also a good distraction.

Can you contact your Pdoc ? Call in the AM , maybe a Med tweak will pull you out of it ? Also if you have a T call S/he and maybe get in soon.

Meanwhile...... can you work on a sleep routine? Keep flinging every coping skill you have at it until something sticks.

Keep posting

Thank you for responding. I was using a mood tracker, but I fell off for a little while. I do think I should get back to doing that though. I definitely need to contact my pdoc. I have an appointment in a few weeks, but probably shouldn't wait, although I have been trying to "wait it out." I do not have a T anymore, since she doesn't take my insurance. I'm nervous about finding a good one since I did have a bad experience with a certain T.

I have been sleeping much more than usual, but I think that is because of the depression. There are times where I will sleep 10 hours but still feel tired, which is unusual, given my history of insomnia. I do want to try different coping skills as much as possible to see what will work, although difficult.

Yes I’m extremely sensitive to missing a dose. In fact if I’m late by a few hours with for example my Seroquel, I will feel like hypomania is creeping in.

I'm like Pookyl. I, too, experience some negative effects from missed doses. I'm talking even just an individual medication. If I miss all in my morning or evening piles, it's even worse. If I skipped my evening meds, I would not sleep. Period. That usually brings on mixed feature type symptoms. Just missing a 0.5 mg Klonopin isn't nearly as bad.

This is a real issue for some. Sometimes I forget that I'm running low on meds until too late. Usually on a Friday night. Of course! Then they have to order them. They never have certain meds in stock. When you are struggling to think clearly, it can be rough managing multiple medications with various refills left, running out at different times.

Start back tracking your mood... if personally try and move up the Pdoc appt sooner.

The struggles of finding a good T are real and totally legit. I don’t have a lot of advice except to a ask Pdoc or the staff for names? Or just google and start calling , which I know is hard , but might be helpful since your pushing your self to make calls , it will help take you out of your comfort zone.

Keep posting here if it’s helping unload your head a bit

I can tell within hours if I forgot to take my meds. When I was on Latuda and missed it I would get really weepy.

Hi Raven,

It's great to see you!
I am sorry about the circumstances.

I have known of people having strong reactions to missing just one dose. It might depend upon how eachperson metabolizes meds and which med(s).

I used to hear of people using mood charts a lot! I don't hear of it much anymore. Am not sure as to why? Maybe people are tracking mood electronically these days?

Be well!

If the depression was there before you missed the meds, it may not all be med related, but it's totally possible for missing a dose to have a huge effect, at least for me.

I have a very strong reaction to missing a dose. I take lithium, and if I miss just one dose, it affects me that day, really bad the next day, and starts getting better the day after that. I usually feel terrible and there's nothing I can do about it except take my normal dose and wait it out.

I am so sorry. I have had negative effects from accidentally skipping meds, even one dose. Most notably, the major thing I get is poor sleep and very vivid dreams (usually horrible nightmares). Mostly, I think it's not taking the Trazodone that does that, or maybe the Seroquel. But even though I keep waking in the night, it won't occur to me to check my meds box or take a melatonin tablet (pdoc OK'ed it). The next morning, I will notice it.

I just recently had this happen to me. I fell asleep on the couch, woke up 2 hours later, went to bed without taking my night meds. I had a horrible nightmare in which my daughter died. And I felt crappy the entire next day. However, the pdoc started me on lithium recently, and I had missed the night dose of that, along with Seroquel, Trazodone, hydroxyzine, Lamictal (200 mg as well), and buspirone (Buspar), along with the infamous clonazepam (Klonopin).

Thank you everyone. Now, I realize after hearing from some of these personal experiences that there is a possibility that the missed dose of Lamictal and Latuda possibly contributed to the meltdown. But either way, I definitely need to make some changes and will get back into the swing of tracking my mood. There's an online one that I've been using on and off, so I need to make that routine. Although I still feel very depressed today, I feel like I am getting back on track with my medication schedule. I took an extra Klonopin, and that also provided at least some additional temporary relief.
