I took prazosin for nightmares when my PTSD was in control of me. It passes though the brain and knocks down over activities and calms dreaming. I don't know if it would work for everyone and my nightmares were directly related to PTSD but it did work for me.

They tried to start me on that but it was dropping my blood pressure too low, so they put me on Tenex which is also a blood pressure med. I was able to tolerate it, Had to be careful getting up to fast. Did it help? I dont really think so , Maybe saved me a nighmare here and there... But it it really helps alot of people.

After a night of accidentally missing my evening medications (and getting virtually no sleep) a few nights back, I have slept again, but it's "choppy", if that makes any sense. Interrupted? I wake up numerous times during the course of the night and early morning, but do get back to sleep quickly. Last night I took my evening medications before 6 pm, because we ate dinner before 6 pm. I fell asleep initially before 8 pm. Going to sleep then makes my sleep even "choppier". My psychiatrist did lower my morning Seroquel XR dose. We'll see what happens. This will be my first day on the lower dose.

I should try to stay up later tonight.

Mom's test came back negative too. But they still won't let her see a doctor for her sore throat. What if it's strep? You can't diagnose that over a old fashioned phone! Gees.

Is there any way to push these doctors into letting her see someone? Sometimes you have to exaggerate sh_t to make them do something about it.

Btw, if you are concerned about strep, try looking in her throat w/ a flashlight. If you see some yellowy white things on her tonsils, then it is likely strep or mono (see article below for more info on that).

For example,
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...-Pos_strep.JPG

You may also see lots of "dots" like this:
https://www.mayoclinic.org/-/media/k...repthu_jpg.jpg

More info here from Mayo Clinic: Strep throat - Symptoms and causes - Mayo Clinic

If your mom has yellow streaks in her tonsils, then telling the doctor about the yellow streaks might get their attention... because that's very likely to be strep. Every time I've gotten strep, I've had the yellow streaks. Regular sore throats are just red for me.

Well I slept last night as expect, My current pattern seems to be my new regular..

I am shocked tho I had a Dream and it wasnt a ptsd nightmare

In my Dream I was back in Florida and hanging out with the first boy I ever kissed , We are our ages now, He started rambling on and on about being angry because he wasn't able to let his cat off his fishing boat.. I said why is your cat there and why cant it just jump out of the boat.. He said that the boat was sticky with almond butter and the cat was literally stuck and it wasnt in the "water" because it had been replaced with cotton candy, so even if his cat could jump it would never land and do a free fall forever .....

I have this guy on Facebook so I told him my dream and he said... step away from the crack pipe he got a big kick out of it because hes a dog kinda person and would never have a Cat.

Anyway there is the first dream I have had in probably close to 2 months

Spikes can you just lay down and let your body relax? Even if we dont sleep our bodies need to be horizontal.. Maybe read a book?? That is where I am going and will be doing in a few minutes.

Try using coping skills and breathing exercises that might help you feel more calm : hug:

I put on a boring Netflix or Amazon Prime documentary or an audiobook to put me to sleep.
Works like a charm.
My favorite, most successful one is Wooleys Watercolours on Amazon Prime.
It teaches watercolor painting. At first it is totally fascinating, but after a few sessions, it puts me out like a light! The artist has the most lovely British accent!

I slept from about 12:30am until 6am, but I was super tired after taking my cogentin, so I managed to fall asleep around 7:30am and wake up at 8:30am. At least I got somewhat decent sleep...?

I know some people here have it much worse than me, though, so I can't really complain.

I slept so long and so hard last night (about 9 hours with 1 trip to the bathroom but went right back to sleep) that I'm groggy and sleepy this morning.
