What songs do you listen to when you're fiddle footed?

I'm making a playlist and so far it has
Halsey- Coming Down
Modest Mouse- Little Motel
And uh that's about it so far hahah

edit: would anyone like me to post a link to the playlist when I'm done? It's on youtube

For calming down, I like lyric-less music (e.g., classical music, space music, slow electronica) or lyric-less sounds (e.g., rainforest, beach, etc.). I find that if I focus too much on the lyrics of something, I can get "too into it" and feel more revved up, even if the lyrics, tempo, etc. would normally make it relaxing.

I just log onto Spotify and search "space music." It's kinda trippy, though. lol. But electronica is nice as well.

But yeah, try lyric-less stuff and focus on the instrumentals. See what it does for you.

Pink Floyd. Shine on crazy diamond.

Phish. Billy breathes. Prince caspian

Simon Garfunkel sound of silence

Modest mouse. People as places

Velvet underground. Venus In furs

Cat Stevens. Anything on Tea for the Tillerman

Anonymous 4 specialises in Gregorian and polyphonic chant. It's not truly without lyric, but it's in Latin, so the mind doesn't generally latch onto it.
Another recommendation I have is the Bolling Suite for Flute by Jean Pierre Rampal. It's a very mellow jazz trio of piano, bass, and flute.
One more recording which has held a place in my heart for decades is the soundtrack to Brideshead Revisited. .... Also give a listen to the soundtrack of The Mission. (Although if you've watched The Mission the music will likely evoke some less-than-calming images.)

I could go on, but feel I should leave space for others to suggest things.

spikes, you've got me going through all my music now, looking for suitable recordings to suggest.

You might listen to a bit of EDDA: myths from medieval Iceland. It's a musical interpretation of the great myth cycle as performed by Sequentia. Where there are lyrics, it's in Old Norse, so I'm willing to bet you wouldn't be too distracted by that.
Another that I'm listening to right now which mey fit the bill is violinist Regina Carter's recording Paganini: after a dream. It has tracks by Ravel, Bonfá, Debussy, Fauré, Morricone, and a few others. Anyhow, she's a remarkable musician rendering the masters in stellar phonics.

*Classic rock from the mid-60's through to Nirvana. At least 50 musicians/bands.
*The Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Nico, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, The Pogues, Big Mama Thornton
*Marlene Dietrich, Edith Piaf
*Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams
*Soft jazz

I can say that more than anything music gives me hope to live.

Summertime - Janis Joplin
After All - Dar Williams
Joyful Girl - Ani Difranco (and lots others but her music kind of goes both ways)
Gold Dust Woman - Fleetwood Mac
Jerusalem - Dan Bern

Just a few off the top of my head.

Janis' cover of "Summertime" is unsurpassed. Pure soul.
