I just finished reading Electro Boy by Andrew Behrman. I found an interview with him from relatively recently.

Thanks, Moose. That was a cool conversation. In the comments a couple of youtube users made Palkin out to be offensive and invasive, but I think he was simply asking the questions many neurotypicals would like to be able to ask. I'm curious how other users here feel about his questions. Offensive or not?

It didn't seem offensive to me. Just a little naive and ignorant. Unprepared maybe. Andy seemed a little befuddled, taken aback maybe. Like he didnt expect any of those questions.

That seemed like an awkward interview. I wasn't offended. But you could feel how uncomfortable both of them were. I'd want to see if other interviews are like that.

Yeah, MM, to me it seemed the awkwardness came from the duty Palkin felt to ask the difficult questions about things stigma has taught us not to mention. I also kinda had the sense he was afraid Behrman would launch into some tangent that would get the show rated M for "mature audiences only."

I would definitely like to see the outtakes of that interview.

Good point about possibly launching into a tangent. But in the book he never swore. Or maybe the interviewer thought Behrman would start talking about all the random sex he had.

Thanks for posting the interview, MM! I found it fascinating.

Palkin annoyed me, but that wasn't so much about his questions...he's just irritating to me. Maybe because he does seem so "normal"...I just don't relate to him. That said, his questions were appropriate in that I do believe that his questions are those that many neurotypicals would wonder about, but might be afraid to ask.

I felt comfortable with Behrman (probably not a surprise there). I appreciate his genuineness, and what I felt was an ability to observe himself in a manner approaching satire.

YouTube

Here is another video of Behrman giving a talk about having bipolar disorder. He seems a little disjointed and nervous, I guess. He jumps around topicwise.

Yes. He seems hypomanic in the video.

Talk Show - ConquerWorry.org

This is an interview with Behrman - no video. He sounds better here.
