I like lyric-less music.

Sometimes lyrics -- especially if they're really deep -- can make things worse for me.

I listen to nature sounds while doing something, be it coloring or whatever. The combination of the music and keeping my brain busy just seems to help.

I also listen to electronica (w/o lyrics) and space music. I find space music to be really relaxing for some reason.

Not sure what you are into. Verdi's Requiem is majestic and spectacular and moving. I like this young UK singer named Becky Hill a lot (becky hill meduza - LinuxMint Video Search Results

Lady Antebellum and Carrie Underwood are cheery, if you like country at all.

Earth, Wind, & Fire, Prince, Janet Jackson, old Madonna--they can all be cheerful and fun, too.

Just a few ideas.

When it comes to anger, sometimes it could be either extreme, depending on the nature of the anger. For example, sometimes if I really need to burn off energy, some kind of headbanging music is good. If it's a very uncomfortable adrenaline anger and I must calm it, something light is good. I like an Irish singer named "Mary Black". Some Simon & Garfunkel songs are also calming. I love classical music, but it is not all calming, believe me. Some soft minuets, maybe, but not certain Beethoven pieces. Watch the movie (or don't watch it....maybe) "Clockwork Orange" and you'll know what I mean.

Actually, if I'm drowsy and want to wake up a bit, many Beethoven pieces are ideal. My very favorite pieces of his are his 9th Symphony (gotta love "Ode to Joy") and his Grosse Fuge.

When I'm feeling angry it helps me to listen to angry music like dark industrial. Sometimes, Trevor whatshisname from "whitest kids" comedy albums help, especially "high in church" and "bought a monkey."
I usually jam out hard and get through it. Skinny Puppy, PIG, Pigface, ohGr, Slick Idiot...

If you want to relax, look up "Miserere Mei Deus" by Gregorio Allegri. It repeats the same soothing sections, so it lulls me to sleep, sometimes. There are many versions online to choose from. My daughter was looking for this same piece just the other day and found a version she likes. The whole piece is about 12 minutes, so if you see a 5-minute version on youtube for example, that's not the whole piece.

Rufus Wainwright has also been a help to me through many years. He's so beautifully damaged and writes and sings and plays so wonderfully perfect. Sir Elton John once called him "the greatest living singer-songwriter" and I think it accurate

When angry I can't listen to music. But I actually don't get angry very often -- hardly at all. My disturbing emotions are depression and anxiety.

Since the lockdown have been listening to a lot of techno ambient. Loving it.

Classic rock. Some indie rock (Tom Waits, Nick Cave, P.J. Harvey). I honestly believe that could not have made it through my life without music.
