I am at the low end of the cycle right now. I am getting whiplash with all the ups and downs. Right now I have no appetite, tired all the time and just want to sleep, don’t feel like showering, can’t seem to make sense of anything at work and my memory sucks. Plus all the intrusive thoughts. I kind of wish to get back to hypomania but I know the next low will be just around the corner. I had to adjust my meds again because of side effects. How do I break this cycle of ups and downs?

Well meds take time to kick in.. and it often takes trying different meds and doses . Meds can only do so much even when they are working at the best for you.

My advice do the opposite of how you feel... If you want to sleep outside a decent amount get up, If you dont want to shower just do it anyway. If you dont want to use your punching bag, do , altho I think I remember saying your hand were really hurting , Go for a walk at a quick clip any favorite comedy movies you like? watch them maybe it wont help but it will take up some time. Games with the kids?

I hope meds start working for you and you find some stability

As you no doubt know, exercise has been shown over and over again to be as effective as meds for depression. Go for a walk, look at some flowers, some dogs, some adorable children, whatever. Get out. Do anything except sit around and feel shi**y. Bake something, cook something. Clean. Fix something that has needed repair. Anything. Action is always better than inaction with depression, at least this has been my experience.
