Reasons to stay alive....
There is no shame in asking for help, NONE. This is not what they tell me in my forest but I know its the truth. Respect to all PS is it possible for a GP to accurately diagnose bipolar or major treatment resistent depression in 5 minutes? __________________ |

I do not understand anything about the UK system, other than its dermatologists, who are quite excellent. Ditto, Australia's. Australia's are superlative. That said, people get good at what they do. If a GP is interested in bipolar disorder, they could probably be quite good at it. But the meds are a lot to learn for a non-pdoc.

Hi, Fuzzybear! First of all, thank you for reminding me that it's ok to ask for help. As for your question, it doesn't seem likely to me that the 5-minute diagnosis has a good chance of being accurate. Maybe they have a quota, or something, that they are supposed to meet. Maybe they get paid more for speeding up their diagnoses. I'm probably kidding?

I love the comment I have heard now from 2 shrinks, re the DSM... how it might be a good idea to either throw it in the trash can, or to use it as a door stop
Labels/dxs help many... but not so many in my forest, and not every single person in every other forest Especially when they aren't accurate or are full of pejorative judgments __________________ |

Hi, Fuzzybear ,I think the DSM should be used as a door stop (don't throw it in the trash can), just in case something in it might be useful.

I wouldn't trust a GP to diagnose...hmm, not to diagnose a mental illness at all, really.

-that someone, somewhere, loves you and is thinking about you
- that if everything isn't okay, it isn't the end - you could miss out on something good just around the corner - as long as you're alive, you have the power to change things |

You could miss out on finding out some of the reasons why
You might miss out on finding a friend or colleague who once was not... Self discovery Some time for fun laughter Deepening a relationship or friendship Learning what love means if this applies Learning how to forgive (at least some of the “offenders” ) if this applies I do not think forgiveness can occur without at least some understanding ?? Something beautiful, however big or small Thoughts on any of this??
Possible trigger:
BTW I have fallen out with a couple of people (two in total... is it them? Is it me? Does it even matter.......) in two different groups recently. I do not place all the blame on the other people. There are usually if not always imperfections in every humans words and/or actions at times. That’s what makes us interesting. How boring it would be if we were all the same. This bipolar group is such a diverse group which is one of the reasons I appreciate it. It makes it a vibrant group, not stagnant or stuck. And being “stuck” isn’t a crime either, and imho even the best therapist irl can’t determine everything about someone .... in less than TEN years, at least that’s my opinion. Feel free to set me straight Sorry about the ramble __________________ |

(I don't see a ramble.) Falling out with others often feels uncomfortable. It might elicit many different feelings. I have often learned a lot about myself and others during these times. Sometimes I learn there's a conflict that may never be resolved and it's best for me to send love from a distance. Other times, I realize I truly desire to further cultivate the relationship, perhaps becoming closer friends. Relationships are important. They are much more important than I've liked to admit at times in my life. I do now feel my friendships are extremely important to me. I cherish them. I'll add here: I cherish you. Getting to know you has been quite a blessing in my life. I sometimes find that people dislike things in others that are actually traits they themselves have . That was certainly the case with the family of origin, all their accusations about me...
I said to one of them “you hurt me”.. admittedly I did not put that in the best way. The only reply was “ditto” Naturally no hugs or conversation later on either or any attempt at validation or listening.... I can say I am more evolved at a certain age... in some ways.... than those who hurt me the most were (Irl) I do not like being an “adult” Maybe all the crap above is partly why relationships are important to me. I don’t think it’s ok to simply say “we are not a close family” and throw a cub to the winds __________________ |
