There are times when being polite pays off and times when it might not be the most effective way to handle things/people. I feel it's important to learn to be assertive. Usually, it is possible to be polite, yet direct and clear in representing our needs, desires/goals. Have you looked into how to be assertive? "Assertiveness is a skill regularly referred to in social and communication skills training. Being assertive means being able to stand up for your own or other people's rights in a calm and positive way, without being either aggressive, or passively accepting 'wrong.' " There is a lot of info here: Assertiveness - An Introduction | SkillsYouNeed'. I am positive you can master this skill. __________________ May we each fully claim the courage to live from our hearts, to allow Love, Faith and Hope to enLighten our paths. |

I prefer a genuine response over a polite one that does not match someone's internal state.
Much love to you Fuzzy |

I really really dislike "act your age". I'll make a deal with you Fuzzybear. You tell me how a 52 year old is supposed to act and I'll tell you whether you're full of baloney juice or not. Sound good?

@Fuzzybear
I always test-out as a people-pleaser, on these scenario tests we have at my workplace. I tend to be over-polite and over-kind at times. Sometimes, its too much for others. Sometimes we have to kick a little @$$. It's hard for me to do, I imagine it's very hard for you to do. Give yourself some grace and permission to live on the edge! |
