The problem I have with Zoloft is that it will work for 3-4 years and stop. Then I would have to switch to Prozac. It would work for 3-4 years. Then stop. Then back to Zoloft. And the cycle goes on.

We will see this time. 2013 was the last time I was on Prozac. Was on a bunch of other things. Now finally am back on Zoloft.

The SSRI's are notorious for working well for 3 to 4 years, then stopping. As far as I know, it's expected, in fact. A shift to a different SSRI or SSNI is usually required.

However I am also on Memantine, quitiapene, ativan, zolpidem, NAC suppliment, all for psych.

Am on a lot of other meds for medical conditions.

Am hoping I will stay stable for at least a couple of years before having to go through med changes all over again.

I have no idea why they just can't work once and for all.
I was on memantine for awhile. Do you think it or the NAC help?

Memantine gave me my first experience in stability. I don't remember if it was for 2 or 3 years. I think a lot of family stress destabilized me and then I couldn't get stable again until I got back on the zoloft.

Unfortunately destabilization also ended up in another hospitalization too. Hopefully I can avoid that again for a few more years.

I rapid cycle when unstable these past years.

As far as the NAC goes. I don't really know if it does anything noticeable for me or not. My pdoc wants me taking it so I do.

Does covid or the covid lifestyle bother you? Even for those of us who are introverts (at least introverts when we are in a down cycle) we cant help but know that the world is highly challenged right now. Having to wear a mask in the grocery store, missing going to our favorite restaurant, ad nauseam puts pressure on us, I believe. And all my codependent rescuer tendencies make me want to whip things into shape but quick and its going to take a while. Emailing my favorite senatorial candidate advice helps a little, but is pretty funny in a way. The campaign seems to listen to what I say, tho others probably mention the same things!!!

I have had very undesirable side effects the second time around with the same med.
