I think there was another thread about this a while ago. I just sent an angry email ... (deleted)

Do people do this more when in a particular sort of episode/mood state?

H Fuzzy! I am sorry you are feeling so angry you'd write an angry email.
Is there something that has triggered your anger? Or are you just in a mood?

What can you do to diffuse the anger or to channel it in a more constructive manner?

I hope you will feel better soon, my friend.
Love you!

Oh man, Huge proble for me over the years. Just did it three weeks ago again!!!

My rule is, if I am hypo at all, no email or texting allowed. It has helped a lot, but still, once in a while, I forget and do it anyway. I always apologize and usually, people forgive me because basically, everyone in the world knows about my illness.

I do this a lot, and I've actually had one of the people report me to the police for the email I sent them.

luckily for me: their was nothing in the email to warrant any action, I just had a warning

I've been known to do this as well. I even sent one to the prime minister a while back. I guess I'm most likely to do this in a mixed state.

I do this too and maybe more in mixed states because then we have warring feelings and the frustration probably causes anger to explode..
I guess the challenge for me is to have the patience to repeat my requests enough and suggest viable ways to make things happen and follow through enough before I hit the point of the anger boiling over.

Have you considered emailing the angry email just to yourself ?

Wait a few hours then go read it ?

I have saved myself many times from sending one out that I'd likely regret it.

Just a thought

This particular letter wasn't rude, mostly just upset. I did get a reply, but nothing angry. It was basically an acknowledgement of my letter. Nice to know they actually read it I suppose.

Yeah I’ve done this. With my therapist most of the time I write out what I’m going to say to her in my note section on my phone and then I go back and edit it all day before sending it.

But one time her email pissed me off and I really let her have it.

When I was in a treatment center as a teenager some kid talked about doing that and secret service was called. It seemed a bit extreme in my opinion.

I act out anger in all sorts of ways when I'm hypo/manic. The anger builds upon itself until it becomes, in my mind, justifiable rage.

Thanks Cristina. My gmail automatically saves drafts, so I very often wait and dont send, or do another draft if I feel I really must set boundaries in my relationships. Anger is a natural emotion. Yes, we bipolars must be sure not to shoot ourselves in the foot, hurt ourselves by communicating the wrong thing. However, letting people walk all over us is not going to work either. I grew up painfully shy, was an elem teacher in at risk schools and had to bark things out sometimes. Now in being my ex's medical advocate, sadly I must be the outspoken enforcer to make sure he gets good care. It's very hard to switch gears from doing that to using the maximum amount of tact in my personal relationships.

------Ive never heard that. Did you write him? LOL Where did you hear that?
They do have to guard against assassination attempts.
In the US, I think people understand that a letter is most likely to reach only the president's staff.

I am guilty of this particularly when I am depressed. I've gotten better but still catch myself doing it at times.
