We increased Latuda (and I learned you have to take it with food for it to work right —I don’t remember my pdoc ever telling me that) and added haldol (which I used to take but haven’t for years) prn and I am a lot better. I am still high but safe, plus no more paranoia and only had to stay 6 nights...which is good because I was over it. Thank you all so much for thinking of me!

Thank you!

No, we weren’t allowed to wear masks because of the strings and the whole social distancing thing was a JOKE. On the ward we were piled up side by side in the main room because we had to be because of the sheer number of patients and we would easily slide 15 (and I’m not exaggerating) on the elevator but in the cafeteria we were not allowed to sit next to or across from anyone. It made many angry. If we have to sit next to and squeeze together everywhere else, why can’t we do it where we are meant to socialize the most? It was crazy and all for appearances. I didn’t get too upset though to be honest. At least the hospital was open at all and allowed us to be safe (even if we didn’t necessarily want to be there).

As you know I was in the same ip when these policies
When into effect. I Remember the day I discharged they were making us out pens/pencils we used into a bucket for disinfecting! They were very uncertain on how to handle this virus and the operator came on the intercom every hour to remind us to wash our hands

Sounds like everything now...backazzwards, because no one really knows what to do or how to handle the pandemic.

Happy to see you , its a shame your Pdoc didnt make it clear Latuda needs food to be effective, I was on Haldol years ago and its old school but a very well studied med, You " might" need cogentin, I did, Wasnt a a big deal.

Glad your back home and feeling better

Honestly, the label on your prescription bottle should have said something like "take 1 tablet every night with food" or whatever. I'm surprised your pdoc didn't write something like that on the label. S/he should have done that because it's so simple and painless to do.

Either way, I'm glad you're feeling better and that you now know how to take Latuda.

No one ever told me to take Latuda with food, either. Maybe that's why it wasn't helpful for me

Thank you all so much for your well wishes. I’m feeling very depressed now. I misunderstood the prescribing instructions and my ip pdoc only had me on the prn haldol while I was ip and I left without it. I may ask my pdoc what she thinks about continuing it. She told me on Wednesday that she didn’t want to make any more med changes until this coming wed because I had only been on the changes for 1 week but I’m so low that I’m thinking of calling her back a couple days early.

I think it’s best to be proactive about episodes. If it was me-I’d call.

I am about 6 weeks ahead of you with a mania, then, crash. Hang in there and do call.

Hugs.
