So I just went to my new dr who was my old dr from about 20 years ago. We went through my med list and after seeing the list she didn’t give me a hard time about my weight. She said I have metabolic syndrome and that a lot of my meds are weight gainers. She told me to take BioFiber and another one that I can’t remember. So then looking at old test results she said I have a fatty liver and maybe hepatitis. I have no idea where that came from. So they took blood and now I have to sit and wait for test results. She is also sending me to physical therapy to try and get exercise without hurting my knee. She was very good about my depression and anxiety. She kept asking if we were doing too much and if I needed a break. I have missed her for a dr. I had forgotten how good she is. She did a psych rotation is school so she is familiar with bipolar and the meds. She said I was on some tough stuff and wants to try and get me off some for my livers sake.

Thank you for your thread. You have described the kind of doctor everyone should have. How fortunate you are, Crook! I would trust her, if she was my GP.

I'm seeing my GP next week and I dread it. She's judgmental and doesn't understand psych meds, at all. She attributes everything, every tiny thing to weight. It's like she's obsessed. I feel like she overlooks things because she's overly focused on weight. I tell her that I have gained weight only after having taken Seroquel for years, but I can tell she doesn't believe me.

Anyway, it's good to have such an excellent MD and I'm glad you do.

Hi Crook,
I too am happy you have such a good GP

Like BethRags I have seen too many GP's who are clueless, judgmental and wrong. As soon as they see a psych diagnosis they become even more rushed and unhelpful

I'm glad you have such a good MD.

Thanks I really missed her. My old dr was ok but this doctor really takes her time. I was there two hours but my mother sees her too and she has had 3 hour visits. She can do that because she is a concierge doctor so you have to pay a yearly fee. So that lets her have less patients and spend more time with everybody. It is worth it with her.

She even looked up the T I saw yesterday and gave her sign of approval. She is kind of quirky like that but it was nice that she approved. It is like when you are starting to date someone and you are looking for someone’s approval that you made the right decision.

That is such good news! Not your health conditions but that somebody is getting to the bottom of things!

For a yearly fee the dr keeps their practice small so that you get more time and can do tests in house.

That's really interesting. I checked out the website and cannot find any place that gives cost quotes. I'm so curious...do you know about how much the program costs per year?

If cost between $1650 and $2200 a year. It depends where you live

Wow, she sounds great, but the hepatitis remark seemed a little off the wall. Did she decide that from test results? I dont really click with my internist, tho he is supposedly an excellent diagnostician. Havent seen that personally, but my friend thinks he's brilliant. I think I would do a lot better with a woman for many reasons.
