Thought this could be fun. I will share two good ones.
One came from my longtime, very old-fashioned psychiatrist as I was transitioning to a new, recently trained one. She had learned he had started me on Provigil and was pissed that I was feeling better. She believed all problems should be solved by talk therapy. Anyway, at one point in the visit, she turned to me and basically yelled: "Yeah, well, I'm sure I' d feel good, too, if I was on speed!!!" Totally awesome. I burst out laughing. She was awesome, though. Other one was at the end of my 5 years at the state hospital. My very bright pdoc, who had the personality of a cardiac surgeon, meaning, super-blunt. Just so you know, I was in a monitoring program and had taken one of my meds incorrectly for like, a week. Ridiculous. Anyhow, she just randomly turned to me in the hall and said: "You know, Cyclist, your whole reason for being in the hospital was totally bogus." 5 years of my life. Honesty. __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

You will take the meds I give you or I will commit you!

My Pdoc from my last clinic refused to give me a referral to a sleep specialist even after I fell down the stairs after a night terror and ended up in the ER because I was covered in blood. He wouldn’t even give me a reason.
He said no to everything I asked. The only thing he agreed to was lowering my meds. That last place thought that just because I had a job that I was totally fine. Basically according to them I was too high functioning to be mentally ill. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

When just trying to ask about my sexual orientation he asked if I was straight or “a gay”. It just struck me as a very odd way of wording it. It felt almost offensive and like he would have been disgusted..

After seeing the same pdoc for two years, I came in for an appointment one day, my pdoc said, ""So what brings you here, tell me your story?" as if he didn't know who I was. I found a new pdoc pretty quickly.

5 minutes into meeting me, "You take up a lot of resources here at the hospital, Pdoc, Therapy, DBT, and I think you're fine, this place shouldn't be a crutch. I think you're ready to be discharged and just collect your meds from your local clinic"
Me: So clearly you haven't read my file, I mean I don't expect you to go through the whole thing but the last session would've explained exactly why I'm a patient here, yet all you did was read my name and mispronounce my surname... You think I'm fine because I'm wearing clothes instead of pajamas and makeup instead of tear stains, and I'm not drooling... Well then you're right, I'm fine. Good bye, and be thankful to DBT that I'm fine enough to NOT stab you in the eye with this pen!" Stormed out had a panic attack and a b!tchfit, whereupon my T called the HOD who then went through my file and let me jump the waiting list to be his newest patient. Guess I should thank that retard tho, he got me in to see one of the most sought after Pdocs in the country. Haha jokes on Dr Discharge, I got an awesome Dr in Parker and that idiot got fired after meeting me. __________________ DXD BP1, BPD & OCPD "The best way to make it through with hearts and wrists in tact, is to realise, two out of three aint bad" FOB... |

"I'm taking you to court to force drug you with haldol to make you happy." I had done a good job staying calm until then. "YOU'VE MADE ME SO F-ING HAPPY!" Then she ran away.

The most infuriating thing a pdoc has ever said to me?

Two things, same pdoc:
1: After my cheeks were swabbed and everything for the dna medication test we “discussed the results” but I never saw them. Then conveniently when I switched pdocs and went to get my records, the dna test results were no where to be found. My new pdoc actually did the test, reviewed the results of the paper with me, and showed me that the exact opposite of what my former pdoc had said were the results were true was actually true. Instead of needing larger amounts of medication, I need smaller. Asshole! 2: My cousin also saw him and he told me 2 different personal things about my cousin. It was so awkward, uncomfortable, and unethical. I quickly changed the subject and only stayed because I had seen this pdoc for years and thought I trusted him. __________________ ***** Every finger in the room is pointing at me I want to spit in their faces then I get afraid of what that could bring I got a bowling ball in my stomach I got a desert in my mouth Figures that my courage would choose to sell out now Tori Amos ~ Crucify Dx: Schizoaffective Disorder |

Trigger Warning - SI
“Well I can’t help you with that.” Said to me after I told her I needed to be locked up or I will kill myself that day. The session ended and I attempted suicide. Nearly died. Did you ever go back to that same pdoc? If so, did she have anything to say for herself??

I saw her one last time while in hospital after my attempt. She told me that this had never happened to her before. She didn't apologise. She gave me the option of finding another psychiatrist while IP, so, I immediately began seeing another pdoc.
