This is all new and a bit overwhelming to me. I've been having issues my whole life with everything I have reading about BPD. Somehow, I was able to exist in a relationship for a few decades with our compatible trauma fitting together. My partner is growing and change, I am not. A light has been cast on my behavior and on my thought processes. It is painful to see.

As hard as this is, I wish I would have been made aware of this earlier in life. I have burned so many bridges and ruined so many relationships and never realized it was me.

Now, I am seeing a psychiatrist and looking for support groups. It is very frustrating and painful to get this far along and have the entire game change knowing that you hurt people along the way.

Needed a place to vent. Thanks.

Hi @writtingwithtux welcome to MSF. I am sorry you have seen the outcome of mental challenges we face disrupt relationships and our lives. That must be rough.

If you have not checked out this site, there may be a useful support group Peer Support Groups Information — Emotions Matter

This may have some resources that are helpful. https://www.borderlinepersonalitydis...bpd-resources/

Glad you joined the MSF community. @CANDC

Have you been diagnosed or you are in the process to be analysed for a diagnosis?

I see as a very good point that you realised about some errors you made in the past. It may seem at the beginning very overwhelming and sure you feel guilty and sorry but isn’t it fantastic that you realised? Many people find it very hard or don’t get it.

I insist again on the diagnosis because I don’t know if you read about BPD because you have suspicious or you already were diagnosed. It’s very important to know.
I tell you because somebody here unluckily diagnosed me and I read and read about BPD and I even reach to a point after the reading that I thought I had BPD. Then, my psychiatrist said no and gave to me a different diagnosis.

Anyway, BPD is not a sentence. I learnt a lot about it and it isn’t. There’s too much stigma about it that doesn’t help patients with this disorder and there’s a whole spectrum.

P.S.: Very welcome to the forum.
