From what I read, being able to recognise your emotions and your feelings ( understanding those latter ones as the emotions associated with a thought), it’s very necessary to regulate your mood.
I’m finding troubles to read them in myself.
For example, I’m having problems to identify just now, if the emotion I’m feeling is sadness or emptiness.
Not mention that I’m also finding difficult to distinguish between an emotion and a feeling since they seem to feed each other.

Were you teach in therapy how to do it? Did it make a difference for you to regulate your mood swings?
Any insight is much appreciated!

Have you ever taken an emotional intelligence test?

Your thread motivated me to go test myself. Here’s the results. 100%
“Wow. You've got an exceptional ability to read other people and understand what they're feeling.”

I was diagnosed with borderline traits and EDD.

Maybe this test proves I really just have C-ptsd.

Have you tested yourself? How do you score? A hallmark of BPD is the difficulty with recognizing emotions.

Here’s a test I found. How do you do on it?

What does EDD stand for?
I’m gonna do the test but I already anticipate you that my emotional intelligence is pretty low. I see the world through my own filters, too much self-centred. I have the ability to put myself in someone else’s shoes but I will always use my own self as reference. So, it’s the most I can reach out. I even think that sometimes I even project my own understanding of myself in others. As if they had to be the same as me. I guess this is what struggling with distinguishing oneself boundaries from the others’ ones mean.

I’m far away from knowing something about psychological issues but from what I read, a person with borderline personality disorder may have a great ability to perceive emotional signs in others. But, there is a big difference between a bpd person who is regulated and the one who is in a certain point in time, living a crisis.

I see what you feel. It’s anguishing to have doubts and not sure of a diagnosis.
Thank you for your input.

Did it. Neither in my worst nightmares I would have expected a result like this.
Do you remember negative numbers from school days? That is -99%. I’m only kidding about this topic now. Lol! It’s my way to remove a little of discomfort from me.

Tell you later about the test. :-)

I think I have to sign me up to do the test. Am I right?

I was able to take it without logging in or signing up. This quiz was useful, because when you answer the question, it shows you details on the person’s face explaining their expression. If you get a lot wrong, it gives you something you can work on.

Hm, that link appears to be down right now. There's plenty of others but they don't seem to work the way you describe, so I'll try that one again later.
