I know in the past some professionals didn't like working with people who have BPD since we have a tendency to be uncooperative or not follow through, but I think that's changing as they develop more effective treatment. As far as other people I'm not sure. I once had a coworker (a PSYCH MAJOR!) say she thought anyone with mental illness, and especially BPD, should announce it on the first date (or sooner) so that people like her can avoid us. Thanks, that doesn't make me feel like crap or anything. It was satisfying watching everyone else chew her out though.
