"Do you know that the World Health Organization is adding complex ptsd to the ICD-11 and are functionally removing BPD. Release date May 2019 and in effect 2020. Huge progress for trauma recovery field." ~ Dr. Arielle Schwartz

Thank you for sharing this!!
WOW! This is AMAZING NEWS!!! I wholeheartedly agree with this decision! BPD has FAR too much stigma and I don't believe adequate attention is given to the correlation between BPD and Complex PTSD / trauma. Personally I think they are the same thing. Any differences can be attributed to the unique ways in which individual survivors experience their symptoms. I have been diagnosed with BPD, however, the more literature I read about Complex PTSD the more I realize that it is FAR more accurate, both in explaining the symptomatology in relation to past traumas and also in explaining how it all happened. I truly hope the DSM follows this path because I believe ALOT of people will be helped FAR more than merely accepting a BPD diagnosis and being treated unfairly in the healthcare systems. Thanks, HD7970ghz __________________ "stand for those who are forgotten - sacrifice for those who forget" "roller coasters not only go up and down - they also go in circles" "the point of therapy - is to get out of therapy" "don't put all your eggs - in one basket" "promote pleasure - prevent pain" "with change - comes loss" Last edited by HD7970GHZ; May 14, 2019 at 01:45 PM.. |

My psyd specializes in treating bpd but he agrees it should be called complex trauma.
I’m so thankful he doesn’t have the stigma __________________ Bipolar 1 w/psychotic features or schizoaffective bipolar type PTSD generalized anxiety OCD celexa, prazosin, Lybalvi and prn zyprexa and klonopin |

I don't really agree with removing BPD. There are a few differences between the two
