This is a great article.

One of the things I find interesting is that she mentions no history of trauma, nor does she indicate that it is a trauma-related disorder as so many do.

My brother has BPD and, to the best of my knowledge, he has never experienced any form of major trauma.

My understanding, from what I have read both on online forums and in articles, is that there are most definitely people who suffer from BPD who have no history of trauma as well as those who have experienced significant trauma but do not end up suffering from BPD.

How do you reconcile the opinion, at least amongst many people, that BPD is a trauma disorder? If you have experienced trauma and do not have BPD does this indicate some sort of resilience those people had before the trauma that allowed them to not have the same ramifications as others? And for those who never experienced trauma, what is the cause of BPD, or is it known?
