I’ve been Mia-diagnosed for years with Bipolar when I was BPD. My last two psychiatrists read between the lines and asked the deciphering questions...do you have regular sleep cycles and how long do your mood swings last? They also keyed in to the flavor of these mood combat zones. BPD people have regular sleep cycles and our mood descents, I call them, last a few hours to a day for me two at the max. It’s heart not mind like bipolar. BPD effects my relationships. All these years I’ts harder to treat and diagnose than bipolar, the current flavor of the month. Now I’m mad.

Hello pageofcups: I noticed this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to Psych Central.

Here are links to 4 articles on the subject of BPD from Psych Central's archives:

I hope you find PC to be of benefit.

P.S. You didn't mention your gender. However on the off-chance you are male, here's a link to another article that discusses BPD in men:

Misdiagnosis and undiagnosed seems to be my lot in life. I'm absolutely still grieving the death of the child I was, before all the trauma created the person I am. Such lost potential; so many damaged relationships. I hope you find a way to work through your anger, and with a potentially more correct diagnosis, can get the help and support that will enable you to have a better future. I hope that will be true for all of us.
