I don't know what to say except if you're in a mood to fight, go away. I find it idiotic when people say Borderline Personality Disorder isn't real. It's quite disgusting, really. People say it's just an excuse or that people fake it. Makes me really angry, and this is a reason why I and others don't open up to people. I just wanted to write this because I figured some of you who happen to see this may relate or understand where I'm coming from. Before you misread my post and say that I think this, I don't. Suffering from this disorder continuously I'd have to be stupid as hell to think that it's not real. I hate the word 'Invalidating' but that's how it feels when someone says this disorder isn't real. Perhaps 'discredit' is a better word. I hate this disorder in itself and wish every day I didn't have it because of the stigma and the way I'm treated because of it, by so-called mental health professionals and others. Anyway, I don't know how long it's been since I've made a thread here or a thread in general but I just wanted to type this. If you want to argue or call me stupid, don't bother. I don't want your idiocy to infiltrate the rest of this subforum.

Whoever has said that borderline personality disorder is not real is a moron, imnsho. It is very real. I'm sorry someone (or maybe more than one someone) was so discrediting to you.

(having said that, a friend of mine who was a doctor said she did not believe in that dx, this was a while back though. She did not talk about anyone ''imagining'' or not being ''real'' though. I think some have been misinformed (in real life)

Hm, interesting. I've never heard of this dx being discredited. I have about ADHD, fibromyalgia, and dyslexia.

Having said that, I'm just learning about this disorder, among a couple other personality disorders, so maybe that's why.

Did anyone explain WHY they didn't believe in this disorder?

I've recently suspected my partner may have BPD, and I tell you, there's nothing "fake" about it. I suppose I shouldn't say anything since he doesn't have a formal diagnosis (even though his therapist advised him to do the DBT), but I just wanted to chime in and say.. ya, it's definitely a condition that can be quite debilitating, I can imagine.
